Join us tomorrow evening 9/19 7:30 for our September meeting and presentation: FORT MONTGOMERY STATE HISTORIC SITE, by Site Manager Grant Miller

Fort Montgomery State Historic Site was the scene of a fierce Revolutionary War battle for control of the Hudson River. On October 6, 1777, British, Loyalist and Hessian forces attacked Fort Montgomery and nearby Fort Clinton. The defending American Patriots, outnumbered three to one, fought desperately until driven out of their forts at the points of the enemy bayonets. More than half of the Patriot forces were killed, wounded or captured. Today, the ruins of Fort Montgomery remain as a genuine artifact of war. Visitors can tour the remains of the 14-acre fortification, perched on a cliff overlooking the magnificent Hudson. In this illustrated lecture, Fort Montgomery Site Manager Grant Miller will discuss the history of the fort from its founding in February 1777 to its current status as a historic site.
