Former Police Chief of Cornwall-on-Hudson Charlie Williams spoke to the Port Jervis 8th grade about growing up in an family: " ...I think about it the whole time. I became the thing I hated. Forgiveness is a tool you can use to get through the bad stuff that is happening, has happened, or will happen — because no one is exempt. I knew I needed to forgive my mother. I needed to ask for help. "

Pat D'Aliso, former head football coach at Monroe-Woodbury High School, speaks to the Port Jervis 8th grade: "Kindness is more important than anything else. Words are helpful and can heal, or they can hurt. It is so hard to come and talk here because I look out and see Patrick, but if some of you come up and say thank you, it is worth it."

The team is in Port Jervis today, speaking to 190 8th grade students. After telling the students about her son's su***de, AnnMarie D'Aliso said, "I don't want you to forget this: if you are depressed and sad the whole time open your mouth and tell someone. If your friend tells you something please open your mouth and tell someone. You have opportunity to be a hero each day by just being kind to each other. My message is have a voice, go for help."

Scarlett Lewis spoke by video, explaining why she forgave the young man for the Sandy Hook shooting. "Start thinking about how to change one angry thought into a loving thought. Kind, caring, concerned, compassionate thoughts feel good. Angry, hateful, resentful thoughts feel bad. I realized, as I started to think about it more, that it would be my choices from this moment going forward that would determine what our lives would look like. And I chose joy."

Pat D'Aliso at Nutley High School this morning. "I don't know what any of you are going through but I do know what it's like to close the lid of a coffin on your child. I don't want any of your parents to go through what Patrick's Mom and I went through.
At the end of the day its about the people around you and the people who care for you. I'm here to beg you to be the voice that Patrick didn't have."

AnnMarie D'Aliso speaks to the 9th and 10th grades at Nutley NJ HS this morning. "Life is hard, I'm not going to paint it rosy. Clinical Depression is like a heavy dark blanket and if you don't get help you could die. Use your voice and talk. It could be dangerous if you don't. If somebody today needs this message...go for help today. Then what I am doing is well worth it."

Today the team is at Nutley High School in New Jersey for two assemblies, the first with over 300 9th grade students and the second with over 300 10th graders. Hashim Garrett also spoke at Windsor HS this morning, telling about being shot at age 15: "As I lay in that hospital bed, that was the first time I had to ask myself for forgiveness for making poor choices. I'm asking you to stop beating up on yourself and forgive yourself. Find something to be grateful for." Sheriff Cureton was also there and very supportive.
