We are a group of dedicated, volunteer gardeners of all skill levels growing and harvesting vegetables and fruits. Volunteers needed.

We provide fresh crops for multiple local food pantries to help end hunger in our community. Message the Garden here or call the Church office at 757-482-4466.

The garden was honored this past week to host a group of elected officials, including Congressman Bobby Scott and Delegate Kacey Carnegie, staff members from Delegate Willett’s staff, VA Farm Bureau leaders and VA Extension specialists.

The group had a tour of the garden, learned of the history and mission and heard about the challenges we face.

We appreciate their time and interest in our garden and hope we were a good example of how communities can work together to feed our neighbors.

In addition to all this gorgeous produce on display, the garden provided 41 cantaloupe and 80 bags of corn- 6 ears/bag- for the Agape guests today.

Thanks to all the dedicated garden workers who harvested this in the early hours so it would be as fresh as possible for the Agape guests.

The corn was harvested from Bergey’s Breadbasket again this week. It’s a true blessing to share in their generosity.

For the second time in the week a crew of 15 volunteers returned to Bergey’s and picked another 780 ears of corn. This corn has been taken to Agape Food Pantry as well as Impact Ministries.
Fortunately no mud wrestling or stuck bodies today! Our thanks to all who helped- and to the Bergey’s for their generosity.

What am AMAZING and INTREPID group of volunteers this morning.
We harvested just over 1400 ears of corn after wading through very deep mud (almost like quicksand!) We had to rescue a couple folks who were so stuck they couldn’t extricate themselves! Had a few take a tumble and enjoy a mud bath- fortunately no injuries.
Thanks to the dedicated Fentress Garden crew and Chesapeake Master Gardeners. Together we provided fresh corn from Bergey’s Farm to 4 of our local food pantries.

Join us at Bergey’s parking lot at 6:30AM on Tuesday the 28th. Wear long pants, long sleeves and boots.

What a FABULOUS group of volunteers this morning. Braving thunder and rain we harvested, cleaned, bagged and distributed over 2000 ears of corn!

Our deepest thanks to Bergey’s for their generosity in opening their field to us. The corn we harvested this morning has been taken to 4 of our local food pantries to feed our friends in need.

A wonderful way to start off a day!

Want to join us this Tuesday morning to glean corn? We’ll be meeting at Bergey’s parking lot at 6:30AM and walking across the road to pick corn from 12 rows.

After picking, we’ll go back to the garden to clean and bag the ears for distribution at local food pantries.

No experience needed, just a servants heart- long pants and long sleeves. Also bring a tote if you have one. Hope to see you Tuesday!

Many hands make a big job go very quickly!!! Thanks to these great workers who helped box up about 1600 # of potatoes tonight in less than an hour! What a team!!!
