A new wheelchair scale is already improving resident care at St. Louis Center thanks to the generosity of Karen David, mother of one of the Center’s residents.
Karen recently used part of her income tax refund to purchase the specialized equipment after seeing firsthand how difficult routine weight checks can become for people who rely on walkers or wheelchairs.
The new wheelchair scale is now installed in the nursing office at Father Guanella Hall, where residents can be weighed safely, comfortably, and accurately.
On May 1st, Fr. David Stawasz demonstrated the new scale for Karen and thanked her for the thoughtful and practical gift. Her generosity will support residents for years to come by helping ensure they continue to receive compassionate, high-quality care.

One of the joys of being at the Knights of Columbus convention this week has been reconnecting with so many of our ministry partners!

It was a blessing to see . Satheesh and our friends at the . Louis Center. For decades, St. Louis Center has provided a home, care, and community for children and adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. In 2018, the Center partnered with the Foundation to open an endowment to support its ministry for generation to come.

Moments like this remind us of the many faithful workers in the vineyard who are quietly and generously lifting up God’s mission every day.

Thank you to Mary and her daughter Lea for beautifying the home where their son and brother lives at St. Louis Center! Lea works at Lowe’s and put her employee discount to good use as she and her mother purchased and donated the mulch, flowers, and time to bring the front yard to life for summer. We so appreciate the families of our residents and all they contribute to the St. Louis Center community!
