We would like to extend a special thank you for your assistance with the rehabilitation of a Cerulean Warbler. This beautiful and declining songbird requires specialized care, and we are incredibly grateful for your expertise and support throughout its recovery.

Because of partnerships like yours, this Cerulean Warbler was given a second chance and the opportunity to return to the wild where it belongs.

🪵❤️ Release Day Adventure! ❤️🪵

Watch these two Red-bellied Woodpeckers do exactly what woodpeckers do best—climbing straight up a tree after their release! Seeing them confidently grip the bark and make their way upward is a wonderful sign that they’re ready to be back where they belong.

Moments like these make all the hard work worthwhile. Fly free, little ones, and enjoy your second chance in the wild! 🐦🌳

💙🐦‍⬛A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Community 💙🐦‍⬛

We want to extend our sincere gratitude to everyone who stepped up to help Camp Wildernest Wildlife Center during our recent mealworm shortage. 🐛

Our delayed shipment finally arrived, but unfortunately, out of the 140,000 mealworms we received, approximately 40,000 were dead due to the extended shipping delays and extreme heat—just as we feared. During those critical days, hundreds of hungry birds in our care still needed to be fed, and our community came through in an incredible way.

A special thank you to Birds Unlimited in Hixson and East Brainerd, as well as Jack’s Bait & Tackle, for donating insects, offering discounts, and helping coordinate supplies for our birds. We are also deeply grateful to the many supporters who purchased crickets, waxworms, superworms, and other insects and brought them to us when we needed them most.

Because of your generosity, our birds never missed a meal. Your support helped bridge the gap until our shipment finally arrived, and it reminded us once again how fortunate we are to have such a caring community standing behind our mission.

Thank you for helping us provide the best possible care for Tennessee’s injured and orphaned wild birds. We truly could not do this without you.

🐦❤️ With gratitude,
The Camp Wildernest Wildlife Center Team

Three tiny lives saved today. 💚

We admitted three Blue-gray Gnatcatcher babies that were brought to us still nestled in their original nest after tree cutters cleared the property where they were located.

While it’s heartbreaking that nests are lost during baby season, we are incredibly grateful for the compassion shown by the workers who took the time to save these little ones and get them the help they needed.

We’re keeping them in their original nest, which is amazingly stretchy—very similar to a hummingbird nest—and will continue to expand as they grow.

Baby season is in full swing. Before trimming or clearing trees, please take a moment to check for nests. One quick look can save a life.
