💙 From anger to action — one young woman is changing lives.

One of our incredible Outpatient Therapy clients is on a powerful journey. Working through her anger, she decided to channel that energy into something bigger than herself — giving back to others who struggle with their mental health.

She created a simple but meaningful tool: a word — RESET — used as a code with her family to pause, step back, and breathe when emotions run high. Then she thought: what if others could use this too?

She handcrafted bracelets stamped with RESET, paired each with a card explaining its meaning, and handed out 50 bracelets to people in need across the Burke and Rutherford areas. 💛

And she's not stopping there. Her next initiative? The 🇺🇸 Red, White & Blue RESET — launching around the 4th of July to reach even more communities.

Most recently, she sent Happy cards to elderly residents in nursing homes — spreading joy to people who need it most.

Through it all, she has grown tremendously — opening up more in therapy, building trust, and using her coping skills every day. We are so incredibly proud of her. 💪

Happy Pride Month from SPARC Services & Programs! 🌈

This month, we celebrate the strength, resilience, and contributions of the LGBTQ+ community while recognizing the importance of creating spaces where everyone feels safe, valued, and supported.

Pride is about more than celebration—it's about belonging. Research consistently shows that acceptance, connection, and affirming support can have a powerful impact on mental health and overall well-being. When individuals are free to be their authentic selves, communities become stronger, healthier, and more inclusive.

At SPARC, we are committed to fostering an environment of respect, dignity, and compassion for all individuals and families we serve. We believe that everyone deserves access to quality mental health care, supportive relationships, and a community where they are welcomed without judgment.

This Pride Month, let's continue building communities that promote acceptance, celebrate diversity, and support mental wellness for all. 💙

💙 Giving Back to Those Who Support Children and Families 💙

Our Gaston County Family Centered Treatment (FCT) teams recently came together for a community giveback project benefiting the Lighthouse Child Advocacy Center.

The Lighthouse Child Advocacy Center provides a child-friendly, safe, and supportive environment for children who are alleged victims of abuse. Through a multidisciplinary approach, they work alongside law enforcement and Child Protective Services to help ensure children and families receive the care, support, and resources they need during incredibly difficult times. They also provide crisis intervention, specialized services, and connections to trauma-informed mental health care for children and their non-offending caregivers.

At SPARC, we are honored to support organizations like Lighthouse that are making a profound impact in the lives of children and families throughout our community. Thank you to our Gaston FCT teams for your generosity and commitment to giving back, and thank you to the Lighthouse Child Advocacy Center for the vital work you do every day.

Together, we can help create safer, stronger communities for children and families.

💙 Helping Clients Reach Their Goals, One Step at a Time 💙

At SPARC, our Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in helping ACTT members achieve greater independence, improve their health, and reach their personal goals.

Whether it's supporting medication adherence, assisting with daily living skills, promoting healthy habits, accompanying members to appointments, or providing encouragement through life's challenges, our CNA help bridge the gap between treatment and everyday success.

Through compassionate, person-centered support, they empower individuals to build confidence, maintain stability, and make meaningful progress toward recovery and wellness. Their dedication is a key part of the whole-person care approach that makes our ACTT teams so effective.

Thank you to our incredible CNA for the care, commitment, and encouragement you provide every day. Your work makes a lasting difference in the lives of the individuals we serve!

What is PTSD?

Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder can affect anyone who has experienced trauma—not just combat veterans. It can follow accidents, assaults, natural disasters, or loss. SAMHSA defines PTSD as a real disorder that develops when a person has experienced or witnessed a scary, shocking, terrifying, or dangerous event. These stressful or traumatic events usually involve a situation where someone’s life has been threatened, or severe injury has occurred. Children and adults with PTSD may feel anxious or stressed even when they are not in present danger. Here some good information for learning more about PTSD: https://lnkd.in/e7csgNJz

Let’s talk about what PTSD really is—and what it isn’t.

June is Men’s Health Month 💙

Mental health is health.

Too often, men are taught to stay silent, “push through,” or carry struggles alone. But real strength is speaking up, asking for support, and taking steps toward healing.

At SPARC Services and Programs, we believe conversations about mental health matter. A simple check-in, supportive conversation, or reminder that someone is not alone can make a lasting difference.

This Men’s Health Month, let’s continue breaking the stigma surrounding men’s mental health and create spaces where men feel safe to talk, heal, and seek support without judgment.
Strong enough to speak. Brave enough to heal.

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks to ABCCM (Asheville Buncombe Community Christian Ministry) for their incredible partnership and ongoing support of our Tailored Care Management (TCM) members.

Access to nutritious food is a critical part of overall health and well-being, and ABCCM continues to make a meaningful difference by helping individuals and families facing food insecurity. Their commitment to serving the community ensures that many of our members have access to the nourishment and resources they need to thrive.

At SPARC, we know that strong community partnerships are essential to whole-person care, and we are grateful to work alongside organizations like ABCCM that share our dedication to improving lives.

Thank you, ABCCM, for the compassion, generosity, and support you provide to our community every day! 💙
