🚨 N.C. Safe Week of Action | June 1–7 🚨

This week, communities across North Carolina are coming together for a Week of Action dedicated to preventing gun violence, reducing accidental firearm injuries and deaths, and saving lives through su***de prevention.

Safe firearm storage is one of the most effective steps we can take to protect our families and communities. Securing fi****ms unloaded, locked, and separate from ammunition can help prevent unauthorized access, accidental discharges, theft, and impulsive acts of self-harm.

Every conversation matters. Every safety measure matters. Every life matters.

Here’s how you can get involved this week:
✅ Store fi****ms securely
✅ Talk with family and friends about firearm safety
✅ Learn about su***de prevention and warning signs
✅ Attend local events, trainings, or vigils
✅ Support organizations working to prevent violence and promote safety
✅ Advocate for policies that protect communities and save lives

When we take action together, we help create a safer North Carolina for everyone.

💙 Supporting Recovery Through Intensive Community-Based Care 💙

Our Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) team is proud to provide services across Mecklenburg County, Union County, and Gaston County.

ACT is a highly intensive, community-based treatment model designed to support adults living with severe and persistent mental illness who need consistent, coordinated care from a single, unified team.

Rather than navigating multiple disconnected providers, ACT clients receive comprehensive support from a multidisciplinary team of medical, behavioral health, and rehabilitation professionals—all working together to meet the full range of each individual’s needs.

Our ACT teams provide:
✨ Person-centered, recovery-focused care
✨ High-frequency, in-home and community-based support
✨ 24/7 responsiveness based on client needs
✨ Flexible levels of care that adjust as needs change over time
✨ A single point of responsibility to reduce fragmentation and risk

ACT helps individuals work toward meaningful personal goals, including strengthening community connections and reclaiming valued roles such as employee, parent, spouse, tenant, friend, or community member.

Grounded in recovery principles, our teams promote self-determination, hope, and empowerment—meeting individuals where they are and walking alongside them as they build stability and independence.

We are honored to serve individuals and families across Mecklenburg, Union, and Gaston Counties through this high-impact model of care.

📚✨ End-of-School Year Glow-Up ✨📚

As the school year comes to a close, students, parents, and educators are all feeling the excitement (and exhaustion!) that comes with the final stretch.

This is a great time to remind young people that success isn't about perfection—it's about growth, effort, and resilience.
As we head into summer:
☀️ Celebrate progress, not just grades
💧 Prioritize rest, hydration, and self-care
📚 Finish strong and stay focused
❤️ Practice kindness toward yourself and others
🌳 Make time for fun, exploration, and new experiences

Every school year brings challenges, lessons, and accomplishments worth recognizing. Take a moment to reflect on how far you've come and all you've achieved.
You did hard things this year—and you did them well. 💙

What is one thing you're most proud of accomplishing this school year?

🧠💚 June is PTSD Awareness Month 💚🧠
Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder affects millions of people—veterans, first responders, survivors of trauma, and more. It’s not always visible, but it’s always real.

This month, we stand with those living with PTSD. Let’s raise awareness, reduce stigma, and promote understanding.
✅ Learn the signs
✅ Listen without judgment
✅ Support those who are healing
You are not alone. Help is available.

As Mental Health Awareness Month comes to a close, Caylee Gilham, Clinical Director and Nicoyia Baxter FCT intake coordinator represented SPARC Services & Programs at the Mental Wellness Family Fun Day in Raleigh. It was a wonderful opportunity to connect with community members, share resources, and engage families in conversations about mental wellness in a fun and meaningful way.

One of the highlights of our booth was the "You Matter" Board, where participants shared messages of encouragement, hope, and support for others who may need them. Watching the board fill with positive reminders was a powerful reflection of the compassion and resilience that exists within our community.
This event was a meaningful way to close out Mental Health Awareness Month reminding us that mental wellness is strengthened through connection, community, and the willingness to show up for one another.

Thank you to the Wake County Community Collaborative for Children and Families for hosting such a fantastic event and to everyone who stopped by our table. We are grateful to be part of a community that continues to prioritize mental health and well-being.
