What does true freedom look like—and where does it come from?

As we continue our four-part look at the Biblical truths woven into the founding of our nation, we’re reminded of another foundational truth: God is sovereign, and our ultimate dependence belongs on Him.

Our Founding Fathers recognized this when they declared their “firm reliance on the protection of divine Providence.” They understood that freedom was never meant to mean independence from God. Today, as our culture increasingly looks to itself for truth, we need that reminder more than ever. God has not changed. He is still sovereign, still on the throne and still hears the prayers of His people.

Discover what the early fathers meant by “divine Providence” and why our dependence still belongs on God:

Although God took Billy Graham’s ministry to more than 185 countries and territories, North Carolina always remained home, and in 2013, he was named “North Carolina’s Favorite Son.”

Raised on a dairy farm outside Charlotte, the Lord used the lessons Billy learned there to shape a life devoted to sharing the Gospel. Read about the evangelist’s life, ministry and legacy:

Billy Graham Rapid Response Team chaplains have deployed to Hamilton and Marion counties in central Indiana, where relentless rain and severe storms have caused catastrophic flooding, tragically claiming lives, destroying homes and leaving thousands without power. Crisis-trained chaplains are on the ground, offering emotional and spiritual care as communities begin to recover.

Please pray for those grieving and facing loss and ask God to comfort and strengthen them. Pray also for our chaplains as they serve and point people to the hope found in Jesus Christ.

Tim Tebow’s “If the Tree Could Speak” invites you into the story of Jesus’ crucifixion, told from the perspective of the closest thing to Jesus on that day—the wooden cross. This captivating poem portrays the journey of Jesus all the way to His crucifixion and resurrection.

Follow the cross to Golgotha and meet Jesus with fresh eyes as the cross discovers it holds the King of kings, who has redeemed the tree’s shameful form and made it a symbol of hope for all of humanity. Order a copy today: billygraham.co/IfTheTreeCouldSpeak

Cissie Graham Lynch is starting a brand-new season of her Fearless podcast with a look at her new book, which will be available in October. In “Stand Steady: A Fearless Faith in a Compromising Culture,” Cissie discusses Biblical womanhood and how to prepare for the storms we will all undoubtedly face in life.

“We’ve traded depth for comfort, discipleship for emotional validation, and obedience for simply staying connected,” she says. “Sometimes women are being taught how to cope without ever being taught how to stand.” Listen to the full episode:

Cissie’s new book about Biblical womanhood and standing firm on God’s truth.

Billy Graham was often ahead of his time when it came to using new technology to reach people with the message of Jesus. In 1950, he launched “The Hour of Decision,” recognizing radio’s unique ability to bring the Gospel into homes, cars, workplaces and communities around the world. Through this ministry, millions of listeners have heard messages of hope, encouragement and salvation through Christ.

More than seven decades later, radio continues to be a powerful tool for sharing God’s truth and reaching people wherever they are. On this National Radio Day, we thank God for the power of radio to share the Gospel.

In central Ohio, hundreds of residents have been affected by severe flooding that caused widespread damage to homes and buildings across the region. Chaplains with the Billy Graham Rapid Response Team are serving throughout Perry and Muskingum counties, offering a listening ear, prayer and reminding impacted homeowners of God’s love for them.

Will you join us in praying for our chaplains as they minister in central Ohio? Ask God to protect and guide them as they share the hope of Jesus Christ—and to bring comfort and peace to those affected by the flooding.
