Some things we can’t fully understand until we genuinely feel them or walk in them. That’s exactly why we are so committed to offering trainings like our recent Rider Perspective Experience with our Dial-A-Ride Public Transportation team.

This training was a gentle reminder. It gives our team the opportunity to step into the everyday realities many of our rider’s face, from changes in mobility to vision to the quiet challenges that often go unseen. It shifts perspective in a way that no handbook ever could.

After a recent session, one staff member shared:
“I just wanted to say thank you for the hands-on demonstrations today. Not only were they fun, but definitely a needed reminder of what others might go through on a daily basis. My mom has Parkinson’s, and it’s getting worse almost monthly. It made me stop and really think about how difficult some of her daily routines are. I’ve always recognized those limitations and try to be patient, but I’ve never truly put myself in her place. This was a good learning experience for me.”

This is exactly WHY we do it.

When understanding becomes personal, it becomes lasting. Not only in our day jobs but in our own personal lives. We don’t just provide rides. We create experiences rooted in dignity, awareness and compassion that can applied in every stage of life. 💛

Dearest riders, due to the road construction on Rt 16 and into the city of Mattoon, the Zipline and door to door reservation based servvice may not be able to remain on time. We will do our best to keep up but with the amount of traffic and delays on the rt 16 and side roads, we anticipate all services and rides in Mattoon to be delayed. We apologize for any inconcenince this may cause.
