Monday, June 15 is World Elder Abuse Awareness Day ๐
Every older adult deserves to age with dignity, respect and safety.
World Elder Abuse Awareness Day was established in 2006 to bring global attention to the abuse, neglect and exploitation that millions of older adults experience each year. While these issues often happen behind closed doors, awareness is one of the most powerful tools we have to create change.
Elder abuse can take many forms including physical, emotional, financial abuse, neglect and self-neglect. It affects individuals from all walks of life and often goes unnoticed. As an agency we have dedicated staff that are on the front lines of this service.
As June 15 approaches, we encourage our community to learn the signs, start conversations and help us to create a culture where older adults feel valued, heard and protected.
Together, we can build communities where aging is met with compassion, dignity and support.
