Did you know that once a month we are blessed with the opportunity to welcome a wonderful group of ladies for the monthly Women’s Christian Connection, affiliated with Stonecroft Ministries.

Their gatherings bring together an amazing catered meal, meaningful and purposeful conversation but most important community. This all happens through a guest speaker alongside a special feature program each month. But beyond what’s on the agenda, it’s the connection around the tables that makes gatherings like these so valuable.

We are so grateful they choose the LifeSpan Center as a place to gather each month and proud that our building can be a home for programs that bring people together, strengthen friendships and create a sense of belonging.

We wanted to personal invite you to join them next month on September 24 at Noon. Registration is required at 217-232-5565 or 217-549-5511!

Remember, unity isn’t about being the same it’s about choosing to come together. Around the table, through shared faith, conversation and fellowship. There, individual stories become a stronger community.

Today’s impact story starts with someone simply walking through the door.

Have you met Bruce? Bruce came to the LifeSpan Center looking for a hobby and a place to share his decades of experience. He started by teaching a contagiously joyful Line Dancing class every Monday at 1:00pm. Since Bruce is so musically inclined and talented he wanted to add our Drum Fit class every Tuesday at 9:00am to his resume!

We truly love when somewhere along the way, the person who came here looking for something to do found a place to belong. We even caught him in the basement recently not teaching, volunteering or leading a class but shooting a few rounds of pool with a friend. And maybe that is one of our favorite measures of impact.

The reality is people who share their time and talents with us don't simply give to the LifeSpan Center. They become part of it. They make friendships. They discover new interests. They laugh, connect and sometimes find themselves getting just as much from this place as they give to it.

That's the ripple effect of community.

Come for a hobby. Share what you know. Stay for a game of pool.

You never quite know what you'll find when you walk through our doors or how far your impact might spread.

Our August Community Social was ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

A huge THANK YOU to Freecycle coles county for partnering with us to offer a FREE Thrift Shop for the community.

We had so many feet come through and leave with everything they needed and all the things they didn’t know they needed!

We are incredible grateful to be able to offer monthly events that pour back into our community because partners like BroadwayFamilyMin and Heritage Woods of Charleston pour into us!

Some things never go out of style.

In a world where cursive is becoming a thing of the past, thank-you notes are often replaced by texts and everything seems to be getting a little sleeker, faster and more black-and-white… moments like this feel like a tiny time capsule.

We had the pleasure to have a local church youth group join us for a movie in our theater. A few days later on an ordinary thursday we were surprised by this: In colorful crayon, handwritten words (peep the picture) and the kind of thoughtfulness you simply can’t manufacture, they reminded us that connection has no age limit.

At the LifeSpan Center, we may be known for serving older adults, individuals with disabilities, caregivers and our community but we cherish every generation that walks through our doors.

Somewhere between childhood and growing older are moments like these that capture different generations sharing the same spaces, making memories and leaving little pieces of kindness behind.

Thank you to these kiddos for giving us something to keep. This one is going on the fridge, of course. ❤️
