5 Mile House Smithy

5 Mile House Smithy The 5 Mile House Smithy is typical of those used by blacksmiths in the late 18th and early 19th Centuries.

The barn was built in 1880 by Commodore Perry Davis then relocated in 2019.

Upcoming classes at Five Mile House:

The cost is $35 per participant.
All proceeds go to the Five Mile House Foundation.

Folks will learn blacksmithing basics including drawing out, twisting, bending cutting, and punching. All participants will make projects with these skills to take home.

Any folks under 15 must have a parent or guardian present.

Scouts can also gain the Scouting American merit badge as one of the smiths is a counselor, but they should inquire in advance.

Blacksmith Basics classes for Spring at the Five Mile House! $25 per person, modest lunch included. Classes are limited to 6 people each and the first one is a last minute opportunity!

This Is a great chance to learn a little about the basics of blacksmithing in an easy-going environment.
