We are grateful to have a visit from one of U.S. Senator Ted Budd's staff, Justin Somers, to our newest inclusive housing community in Chapel Hill. Justin learned about affordable, inclusive housing from our residents and staff and got the tour of the homes and neighborhood where HOPE NC will welcome 8 residents in just a few weeks. We are excited to spotlight Cathy Connors, who joined the HOPE NC Board of Directors in January. Cathy brings nearly three decades of experience in affordable housing to our team. She is the founder of Solstice Partners, a Cary-based multifamily development company focused on affordable and workforce housing in North Carolina.
Since founding the company in 2007, Cathy has helped develop 18 projects totaling approximately 1,500 units across North Carolina and Virginia!! Cathy’s experience is such a gift to HOPE NC as we continue to grow. We are so lucky to have her as part of our board. 💙

Thank you so much to everyone who joined us earlier this month for HOPE NC’s Founders' Day Event! We had such a wonderful evening celebrating our incredible founders and eight years of HOPE NC. A huge thank you to Frank Bruni for joining us, and to everyone who came out to celebrate with us. It was so special to see longtime friends and new faces all together in one room.

North Street hosted their Sixth Annual Pig Pickin’ this June, bringing together residents, neighbors, and friends for a lively barbecue and block party. This event has quickly become such a special tradition, and this year more than 170 people joined the party. Residents from Grosvenor Gardens were able to attend as well, which made it even more meaningful to bring our communities together. This is an event we truly look forward to every year!

What happens when you welcome a new neighbor?

For us, it turned into a wonderful community partnership.

When Steelo Salon opened near our Durham community, our residents had the chance to get to know co-owner Leu and his team. One conversation led to another, and now our residents are enjoying quarterly haircuts! This partnership is such a great reminder that community is built through small acts of kindness and people taking the time to get to know one another.

This month, North Street continued its partnership with Spring Forest Farm for the summer CSA season. Each week, Spring Forest brings fresh vegetables from its CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) for the North Street Community to share. And professional chefs from Spring Forest teach the community how to cook the vegetables that are in season. Preventing food insecurity, learning new skills, encouraging healthy habits, and supporting a local farm all at once! And a lot of fun is had in the process: long-term partnerships like this one create space for real relationships to take root over time.
