Community Foundation of East Central Illinois

Community Foundation of East Central Illinois Transforming generosity into lasting impact across nine counties. As a Community Foundation, we are known by the grants we make.

We steward funds which strengthen non-profits, empower donors, and drive positive outcomes today and for generations to come. As our endowment continues to grow, so does our ability to fund many worthwhile programs to enhance the quality of life in the east central Illinois area. Grants from the Community Foundation benefit the arts and humanities, community development, health and human services,

and education. The Community Foundation of East Central Illinois has one grant cycle per year. Grant guidelines and applications are available starting the last business day of July.

Last night's storms caused significant damage across East Central Illinois. As our neighbors assess what they've lost, CFECI's Emergency Response Fund was created to direct support to the communities impacted across our nine-county service area.
CFECI is coordinating with Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation to ensure every gift is stewarded well and reaches those who need it.

Yesterday, we shared our new look. Today, let's talk about what's behind it.

We know change can spark a lot of questions, so we put together this FAQ to walk you through what's new, what's staying the same, and why we made the leap. (Spoiler: Our mission hasn't changed one bit. We just have a fresh way to show it.)

A new palette, rooted in purpose. 🌿

These colors didn't happen overnight. We spent months working alongside a local graphic designer Stacy Trager at IdeaWorks Design & Print Studio to build a palette that honors where we've been while reflecting who we're becoming. Every hue was chosen with intention β€” to speak to the stewardship, trust, and lasting community investment that define everything we do.

You've been seeing these colors show up in our social media. Soon, you'll see them come fully to life.

Last week, we kicked off something special. 🌱

Our first-ever Incubating Impact session - So You Want to Start a Nonprofit - brought together a room full of passionate, community-minded individuals ready to turn their visions into reality at the Champaign Public Library.

From mission clarity to board development to the realities of incorporation, we covered it all. And then we heard from two incredible nonprofit leaders who have been exactly where many in the room are sitting - Vanessa Faurie, Executive Director of , and Jenette Jurczyk, Co-Founder and President of The Family Room - whose honesty, wisdom, and encouragement left the room inspired.

This is just the beginning. Our Incubating Impact series continues with new sessions every other month through 2027. Stay tuned for what's next. πŸ‘€

If you missed it, don't worry. More opportunities are on the way. πŸ’›

🌟 Congratulations, Lavie Maisha-Wema!

We are proud to celebrate Lavie as a recipient of both the North End Scholarship and the Judge Fred Green Memorial Scholarship, two legacies rooted right here in Champaign-Urbana.

The North End Scholarship honors the heart of our African American community, creating pathways to higher education for minority students with deep ties to a neighborhood that has shaped so much of who we are as a region.

The Judge Fred Green Memorial Scholarship carries forward the legacy of a man who served his country, excelled on the court, and dedicated 42 years to justice in our community. A true example of what leadership looks like in every season of life.

Lavie, you carry both of these legacies forward with you. We cannot wait to see everything you will accomplish. πŸŽ“
