The beauty of positive reinforcement training is that it increases the likelihood that a good behavior will be repeated. Adoption Policies
-Our adoption program is for individuals and families seeking a pet to live indoors and provide companionship.
-You must be 21 years of age or older to adopt.
-We recommend that all household members meet the animal during the adoption process. In some cases, we will make this a requirement.
--If you rent or lease your home, we require written or verbal approval from your landlord before you adopt a pet.
-If you currently own animals, making sure your pets are up-to-date on vaccinations and care can help expedite the adoption process.
-All cats, dogs, and rabbits will be spayed or neutered prior to adoption.
-Our adoption contract requires you to take your new pet to a veterinarian within one week of adoption. LOST PETS??? Stray pets found by the public and animals impounded by Champaign County Animal Control go directly to the Champaign County Animal Services Facility located at 210 S. Art Bartell Road (on the North East corner where Art Bartell Road intersects with the service road to CCHS). Meet Anubis, our Home Pros "Underdog of the Month” for October! She is a 4-year-old black cat who has been at the shelter since July.

Despite her name, Anubis is not a spooky girl! She is getting over-looked for adoption because of her shyness. We’re hoping this sweet girl will appeal to a cat-lover who appreciates the benefits of an “aloof feline.”

Anubis really is a sweet kitty who enjoys affection once she gets to know you. She prefers a home with no children and no other cats. Anubis wants to be your one and only.

Thank you to Noma Home Pros for supporting Anubis this month. If you are looking to add a not so spooky feline companion to your home, check her out at cuhumane.org! Can’t adopt Anubis? You can still help by sharing this post to find her the perfect home!

9 year old Clover is available for adoption at CCHS!

Clover has been extremely shy since coming to our shelter, she has taken quite a bit of time to warm up to staff here. Clover is a very sweet and affectionate girl when she is more confident in her surroundings. Due to her stressed nature, Clover is on a prescription diet for stress related urinary issues that have not occured since being on the diet, so it would be beneficial for her to continue this diet in her new home! Once Clover has gotten used to her surroundings and knows her human companions, she loves to engage in a game of fetch!

Clover must go to a home where there are no other animals, due to them stressing her out in her previous home. Clover has never been around children, so we are unsure how she would do with them.

If you are interested in adopting Clover, please stop in and ask to meet with her!

Now one year old Dorotea is back at our shelter due to no fault of her own! Dorotea was originally here as a kitten, and then brought to us! Just look at her beautiful glow up from kitten to adult!

Dorotea must go to a home where she is the only cat but has a positive history with children as young as newborn on up!

Please stop in and ask about Dorotea if you are interested in adopting!

5 year old Cloudy is awaiting his new forever home!

Cloudy couldn't be a more perfect name, he looks just like a tiny, fluffy, cloud! Cloudy is super friendly and loves to say hi to just about anyone! He loves to roll around in the grass on a nice sunny day and just soak up all of the sunshine he can! Cloudy would love to snuggle on a couch and help binge watch all of your favorite shows!

Cloudy has a positive history of doing well with children as young as newborn on up and did great with the cat in the home. Cloudy has never lived with another dog, so we are unsure how he would feel about sharing his space with another canine friend.

If you are interested in adopting Cloudy, please stop in and ask to meet with him!

1 year old Supreme would love to be your new best friend!

This adorable girl came to us as a transfer after being found as a stray, so we do not have any information on how she does in a home setting or with other animals and children. She has previously been housed in our communal rooms with other cats and did just fine though!

Supreme is quite shy, she spent the first few days hiding in a hide-away cat bed until she felt more confident to come out and say hi. She can be quite the talker once she's more aquainted with you!

As you may have noticed, Supreme has a little "nub" of a tail, this is just part of who she is, we do not believe it was amputated, so she may have a little bit of Manx or Bobcat in her genetics somewhere.

If you are interested in adopting Supreme, stop in and ask our front desk staff about her!
