Our youth team has had a busy—and fun—week of summer events!

On Wednesday, we hosted Water Wars for middle school students and up. Even though the rain cut things a little short, the kids still had an amazing time getting soaked, laughing, and making memories together.

Tonight, we welcomed our K–5th grade friends for a Popcorn & Movie Night, filled with fun, snacks, and fellowship.

One of the most meaningful moments of the evening came when a parent shared how much events like these mean to their family. They explained that it can be difficult to find places for kids to go that are free, safe, and fun—and that reminder is exactly why we do what we do.

Parents: Looking for opportunities like this for your children? Keep an eye on our page for more summer events coming soon!

Community Partners & Donors: Interested in helping make events like these possible? We’d love to connect with you and explore ways to partner together to serve local families.

🍩 A meaningful National Donut Day in Champaign!

Today, The Salvation Army proudly opened a new Veterans Center designed to help veterans across Champaign County connect with resources, build community, and successfully transition into everyday life.

Developed in partnership with local organizations, the center provides a welcoming space where veterans can access support for housing, mental health, employment, transportation, addiction recovery, and more.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony, led by Captain Kenyon Sivels and retired Salvation Army employee Dave Murphy, coincided with National Donut Day—a fitting tribute to the Salvation Army's Donut Lassies, who served soldiers on the front lines during WWI.

For more than 13 years, The Salvation Army's local veterans programs have served approximately 8,000 veterans. Today marks another important step in continuing that mission of hope, support, and service.
