It was an honor joining the Thurston Economic Development Council, Thurston County Commissioner Wayne Fournier, local small business leaders, nonprofit organizations, and federal and state partners to discuss the exciting progress at the Tenino Agriculture Park.

I have been proud to support and secure funding for this project through the State Capital Budget because it represents the kind of practical, community-focused solutions we need more of in Washington. The Tenino Agriculture Innovation Park strengthens food security, creates economic opportunities, supports local jobs, and helps open new markets for small agricultural producers.

By investing in infrastructure and partnerships like these, we can support family farms, strengthen our local economy, and build a more resilient future for our communities.

It also gave me the opportunity to pick up some amazing food and snacks from Colvin Ranch Provisions.

June is a special month for families.

As we celebrate Father’s Day and recognize the role fathers, grandfathers, stepfathers and positive male role models play in shaping the next generation, it is also an important reminder of one of the most meaningful things adults can do with a child: read together.

Recently, I attended Dolly Days hosted by the United Way of Lewis County and the Lewis County Rotary Foundation, helping raise awareness and money for Dolly Parton's Imagination Library and early childhood literacy efforts throughout Washington state. The event celebrated more than books. It celebrated stronger families, stronger communities and brighter futures for children.

This week, I had the pleasure of giving opening remarks at the Washington State Building and Construction Trades Council convention in Ridgefield at ilani and welcome hundreds of skilled workers, affiliates, and guests from across Washington state.

I highlighted worker safety, affordability, workforce development and apprenticeship, and initiatives to address mental health.

It was such a great pleasure meeting Gunnar! His Eagle-required merit badge required him to conduct an interview with his state representative and I jumped at the honor.

These moments and conversations create lasting memories. My favorite part of being a state representative is giving back and supporting the next generation of community leaders like Gunnar.

Great tour of Rainier Pure Beef Company at the Port of Woodland this week.

The company processes more than 1 million pounds of beef each week, employs 261 people, and continues investing in our local communities and economy. It was impressive to see the innovation, workforce, and commitment to agriculture and food production right here in Southwest Washington.
