The purpose for the Outdoor Club is to provide opportunities and get people interested in the outdoors; to educate our members in outdoor and conservation skills that will stay with them long after the excursions have ended; to share the beauty of the natural world around us and to feel the satisfaction that comes after outdoor activities in the great Pacific Northwest. We will try to have one out
ing a month during each quarter. The outings may consist of pleasure activities where members can share skills such as: fishing, clamming, oystering, hiking, skiing, camping, white water rafting, kayaking/canoeing, bicycling, climbing, berry or mushroom gathering. The outings can also provide community service such as: trail restoration, tree planting, charity walks, or salmon steward volunteering. A brief outline of officers’ duties follows:
President: Calls and presides as chairperson over all meetings, prepare agendas and designates committees. Vice President: Serves as chairperson in the absence of the president. Acts as committee coordinator. Assists the President in promoting club activities. Secretary: Records minutes, places items on the agenda, handles correspondence, maintains membership list and attendance roster. Treasurer: Maintains club accounts, processes all paperwork necessary to pay bills, records all financial information and makes financial reports at each meeting. Publicity Officer: Prepares news articles on club news for publication or broadcast, in charge of club brochures and event flyers. Historian: Maintains club’s scrapbook, takes photos and videos and maintains both, in charge of club brochures and event flyers.
