Our Northeast Campus trainers Ava and Ava, along with Training Assistant Maryjanee, took some of our dogs in training on a little adventure around Falmouth, MA!

After spending time in town, the crew headed to Goodwill Park for new sights, sounds, and experiences that help build confidence and strengthen their training skills.

Assistance Dogs in Training 🐾 Fiona, 🐾 Pumpkin, 🐾 Finn, 🐾 Florida, 🐾 Belle, and 🐾 Qadira enjoyed exploring new surroundings, practicing their skills, and even squeezing in a little water time!

And of course, no adventure would be complete without a photo shoot!

Every new environment is another opportunity for our dogs to learn, grow, and prepare for their future roles as Assistance Dogs.

A little training, a little adventure, and a whole lot of adorable!

It’s Follow-Up Friday and we’re checking in on Officer Mackenzie and Facility Dog 🐾 Archie at their 3-year follow-up!

Three years into their partnership, Archie is still LOVING his job and making a difference in the community he serves!

From providing comfort to victims of crime to helping build positive connections between local law enforcement and the community, Archie plays an important role both on and off duty.

Using trained tasks like Visit, Lap, and Settle, Archie offers a calming presence when people need it most. He's also quite the community ambassador, attending local events and helping residents get to know the officers who serve them.

And the best part? Archie absolutely loves going to work!

We love seeing how this partnership continues to make an impact three years later. Here's to Officer Mackenzie, Archie, and the many lives they're touching together!

🐾 Group play… with an obedience twist!

Our dogs in training got to enjoy some group playtime while our trainers added a little extra challenge. Throughout the session, trainers would recall dogs from the group to practice obedience while plenty of distractions were happening around them.

And they did SO well! It was awesome to see them stay focused and work through their cues with other dogs playing nearby.

This has been a highly requested fun activity, and it definitely lived up to the hype. And yes, the laughter at the end is 100% justified. The dogs doing “place” in sync might be the cutest thing ever.

Fun, focus, and some pretty impressive self-control!

Last Thursday, DBL joined Microsoft for a Barktober event! A big thank you to our Regional Advisory Board members Jacob and Nicole, who represented Dogs for Better Lives alongside former Service Dog 🐾 Otto. They had a great time connecting with the Microsoft community, sharing our mission, and talking about ways to get involved.

And judging by the photos, Otto may have stolen the show.

One Barktober down, four more events to go! We’re excited for a month of connection, community, and raising awareness for Assistance Dogs.

Our Atlanta From Shelter to Service Dog team recently hosted its first Foster Home Group Class! DBL staff Abbey and May brought our foster families and their dogs in training together at Atlanta Humane Society for an afternoon of learning, questions, and hands-on practice.

Fosters worked on obedience cues, talked through behaviors they’re seeing at home, and learned new ways to reinforce their dogs’ training between sessions. And the dogs? They showed up ready to work with some great engagement!

This is just the beginning. Monthly group classes will help keep our foster families connected and involved as their dogs progress through the program.

A huge thank you to our incredible fosters and to Atlanta Humane Society for providing the space to make it happen!

It’s Follow-Up Friday and we’re checking in on Lisa and Certified Hearing Dog 🐾 Luke in New Jersey!

Lisa and CHD Luke make a great team, and their dedication shows. They practice Luke’s sound alerts every day, helping him stay sharp and consistent in his work.

They’re also an active pair! Lisa loves to exercise, and she and Luke walk more than three miles together each day. Along the way, Luke even taught himself an extra alert...letting Lisa know when someone is approaching them from behind.

And Luke’s skills extend well beyond home. Lisa and her husband recently took a 6,000-mile road trip to Alberta, Canada, and Luke traveled like a champ throughout the adventure!

From daily practice to daily walks and thousands of miles on the road, we love seeing the partnership Lisa and Luke have built together.
