Last week, members of the 1Direction Prevention Coalition traveled to the 2026 Bryce Canyon Prevention Coalition Summit to learn, collaborate, and bring back new ideas to strengthen prevention efforts in Emery County.

The summit provided valuable opportunities to connect with prevention professionals from across Utah, share successes, and learn innovative strategies that support youth, families, and communities.

We are grateful for coalition members who dedicate their time to learning and growing so we can continue building a healthier, safer, and more connected community. We look forward to putting what we learned into action!

Summer often means more freedom, more social events, and sometimes more opportunities for kids and teens to be faced with alcohol. Take the time to practice refusal skills and talk through different scenarios and help your child come up with responses they feel comfortable using. Remind them that they can always use you as an excuse to get out of a situation, and make sure they know your family's expectations. When it comes to underage drinking, the answer is always no.
