About the BSA

The Boy Scouts of America is one of the nation's largest and most prominent values-based youth development organizations. The BSA provides a program for young people that builds character, trains them in the responsibilities of participating citizenship, and develops personal fitness.

For over a century, the BSA has helped build the future leaders of this country by combining educational activities and lifelong values with fun. The Boy Scouts of America believes — and, through over a century of experience, knows — that helping youth is a key to building a more conscientious, responsible, and productive society.

BASIC CONCEPTS OF SCOUTING: OVERVIEW

Scouting is a program with a purpose. It is a way for youth to gain strong ethics, moral fiber, and duty to God, all while learning valuable skills. And it is a way to develop future leaders. The world has changed, but the basic concepts of Scouting have remained constant, with values, aims, and methods that continue to mold boys into exceptional adults.

Goal of Communications for January: - Learn how to give better talks in church or other areas.
- Understand how to prepare and give better lesions - important for priesthood quorum and Family home evening lesions or any other time formal teaching is needed.
- Communication with God through Prayer (listening is a vital part of any communication)
-- Last week we used games to help understand many communication principals.

January in review: We had our Winter camp out. Participants had the opportunity to earn their "Winter Sports" merit badge.
We have covered "communications" during young men's as an opportunity to learn one of the most valuable skills of life. Communications is so important that it is addressed twice during "Timberline NYLT" course. It is covered in most all business leadership training also. What a great opportunity. Those that want to may also earn their "communications" merit badge.

This was a warm camp out for January, lots of great opportunities.
