Caspar Community Center, an historical schoolhouse in the heart of a peaceful rural village on California's scenic north coast, is available for conferences, events, meetings, and classes. Caspar's cluster of houses huddles together for protection from the storms and big ocean. Caspar is practically invisible to folks whizzing past along Highway One -- a church steeple (now the Jewish Community Ce

nter), a schoolhouse (now the Community Center) and the remnants of a thriving turn-of-the-century mill town. Caspar (pop. 500+/-) lies between Fort Bragg, our local "big town" and Mendocino, the tourist destination. Caspar is blessed with two perfect beaches, a community center, a bar, a shul, art galleries, businesses, and a strong sense of place.

This Thursday, Aug 13 from 1pm-3pm join Grassroots Institute of Mendocino – Housing Work Group:
Organize action against the current local housing crisis affecting seniors as well as other low-income people on the coast!

Join this workshop to lend your knowledge to countywide engagement to secure the support of our Board of Supervisors by the end of August so this issue can be placed on the September 15 agenda for approval.

MARK Your Calendar: We all need to be at the BOS meeting on 9/15!

In the workshop we will provide handout worksheets that list key elements of the State’s AB2533, City of Berkeley’s and other well designed amnesty programs for unpermitted buildings, as well as guides for going forward. We will also address how to realign our County’s specific FULL code compliance and enforcement PRACTICES with AB2533’s basic requirements.

It's going to be a pretty good day in Caspar:
Welcome Parade with Gertie the Gorse Monster — bring your tambourine and join in.
Live music, dancing, over 30 vendor and non-profit booths, circus, kids activities, our annual Cupcake Walk (for all ages) with live music, and special circus activities for kids hosted by Spoon Circus.
Great local organic food prepared by Dalen and the Caspar Kitchen Crew. B**r, w**e, margaritas, and non-alcoholic drinks will be available at the bar.
