Okandogs IT IS ALL ABOUT CARING. In 2014, my wife, Jan and I, started trying to help Okanogan area dogs. There is no public money available at all to help out.

There are no funded Humane Societies or shelters for Okanogan County dogs. Any effort has to come from the private sector both in terms of money and effort. We have been successful in helping almost 6400 dogs so far. We have done this by rapidly responding to dogs in need and by building confidence and trust. ners who put local area dogs first. The euthanasia rate and overall fatality rate is almost nil. As trust in us grows more people have chosen to follow us and to participate in our cause. We maintain a vet emergency fund to assist injured and ill dogs who have no other resources available. We have a program that provides free stay at home spay for mama dogs when pup litters are entrusted to us. We have an 8‑month‑old male pup who needs a foster ASAP. With several of our amazing fosters taking breaks or heading out on vacation, we’re running thin — and this sweet boy has nowhere to go.

We ALSO have FOUR male heeler puppies (about 2 months old) who urgently need placement.

Toby’s ears deserve their own fan club. 👂👂🎉

They’re aerodynamic. They’re expressive. They’re basically emotional WiFi. And they belong to one of the cutest, bravest puppies we’ve ever met.

After arriving with a broken back leg, Toby underwent surgery and is healing wonderfully. He still needs short walks and controlled playtime while he finishes recovering — but don’t tell him that. He thinks he’s ready for the Ear‑lympics.

Toby loves people, thrives on companionship, and would do best with older kids and a gentle dog buddy who won’t knock him around while he’s still healing. He’s overcome so much already, and now he’s ready to tune those incredible ears toward his forever family. ❤️

This sweet girl has officially been adopted by a wonderful woman who just retired and has a lifetime of love ❤️ and experience with German Shepherds. Her beloved Urie recently passed 🌈, leaving a quiet space in her home — and Koko walked right in and filled it with joy. 🏡
