Thank you to pugetsoundkeeper, Camp Indianola, and the suquamish_tribe for collaborating to host a beach cleanup event last week at Doe Kag Wats. We worked alongside many friends from The Pacific Northwest Conference of The United Methodist Church — both the Commission on Environmental Stewardship and the Circle of Indigenous Ministries. It was neat to feel multiple social groups collide and commingle, just like the fresh and salt waters of this sacred estuary.

Julia visited Central Church in Richland, WA today for an estate planning seminar. With 40+ attendees, it was great to see old friends and meet new ones! Together we remembered Roger Theide, the longtime member and champion rose grower who used his pre-tax retirement account to fund a trust that still contributes towards Central Church’s groundskeeping. This prevented his heirs from paying a big tax bill upon his passing, and has kept the rose garden (and the whole campus) looking beautiful. If you want to support charity in your own estate planning, pre-tax retirement accounts should be at the top of your list of asset classes to consider. Give us a call if you’d like to talk it over; our staff has lots of uplifting examples to share, and is happy to work one-on-one with you to create a gift that benefits both your family and your church.

This week included time around the desk and the table together. We set goals, shared ideas, and filmed a new video to help tell the story of Faith Foundation Northwest.

These behind-the-scenes moments reflect the collaboration and joy that shape our work with faith communities across the region. We are grateful to be part of this work with you.

Earlier this month, we celebrated what would have been Rev. Hazel Anne Burnett’s 97th birthday.

We are thankful for her faithful leadership across the Pacific Northwest, her deep commitment to justice and inclusion, and the many lives she touched. Even beyond her lifetime, her generosity continues through a thoughtful bequest that will support ministry for years to come.

We’re honored to help steward gifts like Hazel Anne’s. If your church or a ministry has shaped your life, consider how you might carry that impact forward. A planned gift can be a lasting expression of gratitude and faith.
