Thank you to our students for the 2025-26 year; Year 1 & 2 - we had a fun year and an awesome end celebration! 🎉 Thank you for your dedication, compassion, leadership and enthusiasm. Hello Mason Bees! 🐝🐝

LEAP students Peter and Sylvan learned about rewilding during a session and were inspired to help their local ecosystem after a severe storm. ⛈️ They spent the last several months planning, designing, creating, and monitoring hotels for Mason Bees.

🏨 They built their hotels predominantly by hand and used only wood that they found from fallen trees. After building 12 hotels, they placed them in a variety of locations to test what Mason Bees are most attracted to. 🌲 They learned that Mason Bees prefer elevated locations with nearby dirt and mud, and do not seem to have a preference for what types of trees they visit.

It took a little bit to get traction, but by the end of the semester, Sylvan and Peter were excited to share their final update: “Bees bees bees! We are excited that this project actually worked. And honestly a little surprised.” ‼️

🌎 Leaving the world better than we found it, one day at a time. Great work, Peter and Sylvan!

The peahens seem to prefer being with the dogs. 💚 I’m under the weather today, so the dogs and I stayed at the big house resting for the day, which is not typical. And guess who was there hanging with the dogs…. Hermione. (also not typical for her to be up at the big house midday) So my only guess is she was missing them down in their usual spot today. 🥰💚💙
