Today is Thankful Thursday and we have so much to share!

On Tuesday night, we had the pleasure of reading the National 4-H Week Proclamation at the Moore County Commissioners' meeting! Over a dozen 4-H'ers attended the meeting and spoke to our county commissioners about what they have been busy doing to Make the Best Better this year.

We are incredibly proud of all of our 4-H'ers, from Cloverbuds to graduating seniors, for the hard work and dedication they have put towards their 4-H projects. We could not wish for better young people to represent our organization!

We would also like to recognize a graduating 4-H'er, Vincent, who shared with the Commissioners last night that he will be leaving us soon to join the United States Air Force. We are honored to call him a 4-H'er, and we wish him the best during this next chapter of his life.

We have many thanks to give! Firstly, thank you to Moore County Government and Commissioners for their continued support of 4-H and Cooperative Extension. Thank you to Keith Walters, South Central District Director and Interim Assistant District Director, for attending and speaking on behalf of Cooperative Extension. Lastly, thank you to our partners at the Moore County Chamber of Commerce, Jonathan Lewis, and Linda Parsons, for coming to support our young people.

What we do would not be possible without any of them, and we are grateful every day for the effort they put into growing Moore County 4-H.

Happy National 4-H Week!🍀

This summer, we met Luke Baldwin Racing with Team Reaume during our STEM Racing Camp with Harnett County 4-H. In 2 days, we will be in the pit with them, cheering on Luke as he represents North Carolina 4-H during the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Tune in to the race to see the clover speed around the track for National 4-H Week!🍀🍀🍀

We are thrilled to be a part of the 2nd Annual Scarecrow Stroll at the Sandhills Horticultural Gardens 🎃

This year's theme was Revolutionary, in honor of America's 250th Birthday 🇺🇸. Our scarecrow combines aspects of the beginning of 4-H and the beginning of our country!

We are placed inside the children's vegetable garden if you would like to enjoy the stroll between now and November! Join us on October 24th for the Scarecrow Fest from 10-2. There will be a plant sale, vendors, food trucks, family activities, and more! Don't forget your costume as you visit each scarecrow for candy!!!

He may not be the perfect scarecrow, but we are very proud of the hard work put into making him and setting him up. A special thank you to Marcia and Lee at the gardens for coordinating the stroll!

Last Friday, we hosted the 2nd Annual Moore & Montgomery County Livestock Show! We were proud to host dozens of youth from 17 counties. We commend them for their hard work and dedication in and outside of the show ring🐐🐑🐄

🍀From cloverbuds to seniors, each class came in with a positive attitude, an abundance of knowledge, and great confidence!

🥇We are especially proud of each participant for being willing to lend their livestock during our open shows! Community members of all ages and abilities had the opportunity to get inside the ring with either goats or lambs.

Thank you to all of the parents, volunteers, teachers, judges, and anyone else supporting our youth. A special thank you to Moore and Montgomery County Farm Bureaus and Carolina Farm Credit for sponsoring the show!
