It’s up! Owner Emily Myers has just finished installing OCAG’s first preview exhibition for its 2026 Studio Tour at Chapel Hill Frame & Fine Art.

Please join us for the opening on Oct. 3 from 6-8 p.m. There will be live music and light hors d’oeuvres. You can drop in to see the preview exhibition now through Oct. 24.

Today was the opening reception for Barbara Tyroler’s exhibition, “The Human Element: Water, Light & the Art of Connection.” The show explores and documents the intersections of local civil rights history, community and storytelling in “Looking Back: Where Memory Takes Roots.” It runs Aug. 29 through Oct. 3 at the Robert and Pearl Seymour Center in Chapel Hill.

“Growing up in Chapel Hill during the first years of public school desegregation, I returned decades later to photograph the landscapes of my hometown,” says Tyroler. “What began as a search for family places gradually became an exploration of how landscapes carry memory.”
QR codes throughout the gallery allow visitors to hear oral histories from the residents of Northside, Pine Knolls and Tin Top – three of Orange County’s oldest historically Black neighborhoods. Art quilts by Chapel Hill artist Ida La-Vern Couch are displayed with Tyroler’s photography.
