"The True Cost of Power": Duke Energy’s Climate Deception outlines how, for decades, Duke Energy leaders have misled the public about the dangers of its fossil fuel use while also positioning itself as a clean leader and harming our local communities. The documentary features voices from prominent scientists, journalists and community leaders, and will introduce an NC WARN campaign to finally get our state on the right side of the climate emergency.

Registration is required (so we know how many people are attending)

I know many of you are reeling right now, inundated with questions from friends and supporters who read the New York Times article. We wanted to give you all a last minute heads up on a fascinating project being run by the Southeast Regional Climate Center at UNC.
The Web Bulb Heat Mapping Project, which in phase 1 ran all summer, with the help from scientists and volunteers citizen scientists to better understand how heat impacts our local communities. Along with their dedicated volunteers, they are collecting high-resolution heat data across Chapel Hill, Carrboro, and South Durham. Our goal is to capture the fine-scale variations in heat exposure that residents experience on a daily basis, as well as during extreme heat events.

They are holding a community engagement event TONIGHT at the Chapel Hill Public Library
More details on the project , look here

You can view the agenda here. They will have a zoom if you can't attend in person. All in all, this is an exciting project and it is taking place right in our back yards!
