The Care to Learn - Cape Girardeau Chapter is in partnership with the
Cape Girardeau School District.

Each year, almost a million kids go to school in the state of Missouri. While most families are able to stock up on essential health, hunger and hygiene items, some will have a much harder time making ends meet. When basic needs go unmet student cannot focus on learning. Care to Learn empowers school staff and faculty to respond immediately. They are taught how to identify student needs which help keep administrative cost low. Students needs are met anonymously and immediately to maintain their dignity by utilizing local community resources. You can help kids in our communities have the resources they need to have a successful school year. With your generosity, they can have the ability to learn just like their friends.

💚 EVERY CHILD DESERVES THE CHANCE TO LEARN. 💚

Right here in Cape Girardeau, there are children coming to school carrying burdens that no child should have to carry.

Some are going without enough food.
Some are wearing clothing or shoes that no longer fit.
Some don’t have the basic hygiene items they need to feel clean, comfortable, and confident.
Some are worried about what they will eat when they get home.

And we have to ask ourselves…

How can a child focus on a math problem when their stomach is growling?
How can they concentrate on reading when they’re worried about where their next meal will come from?
How can they feel confident raising their hand when they’re worried about being teased because of their clothes, shoes, or hygiene?

Children shouldn’t have to choose between basic necessities and an education.

That’s where Care to Learn – Cape Girardeau steps in. ❤️

We believe that when we remove barriers like hunger, lack of clothing, hygiene needs, and other basic necessities, we give children something much bigger than an item.

We give them the opportunity to focus.
To learn.
To participate.
To feel valued.
To simply be a kid.

Every child deserves to walk through those school doors knowing that their community cares about them.

💚 Health. Hunger. Hygiene.
💚 Meeting basic needs so kids can focus on their future.

Because sometimes, helping a child learn starts with simply making sure they have what they need to get through the day.

Our kids are worth showing up for. Our community can make a difference. ❤️
