Our mission is to inspire interest in our region’s history through special exhibits, educational programs, and community engagement.

Also, the House is a charming venue for your next small gathering. Tours available on Sundays 1-4pm (Spring thru Fall) The Reynolds House in Cape Girardeau serves as the largest and most visible artifact in our community engagement story. Constructed pre-Civil War in 1857, the home was influenced heavily by the French Colonial architecture that was and still is prevalent along the Mississippi River Valley. The Reynolds House had been vacant for more than fifty years and was under significant threat of condemnation and demolition by the city. Its ownership changed hands several times over the last fifteen years, but always narrowly missed the wrecking ball. The Reynolds House Foundation was created through the vision of local preservation advocates Earl and Ruth Norman.

The Reynolds House is open for guided tours every Sunday from 1–4 PM.

The Reynolds House is looking for TEA Talk speakers for our upcoming monthly programs—and we know our community is filled with stories, knowledge, talents, and experiences worth sharing.

You don’t have to be a professional speaker. You simply need something you’re passionate about sharing!

We’d love to hear from people who can bring us:
✨ Local history & historic stories
✨ Local legends, folklore & interesting people
✨ Community leaders & changemakers
✨ Artists, authors & collectors
✨ Demonstrations or “how-to” presentations
✨ Educational talks or mini classes
✨ Unique hobbies, skills & areas of expertise

TEA Talks are held once a month at the historic Reynolds House and are FREE for the community to attend.

Our goal is simple: bring people together to learn, share stories, and celebrate the people and history that make our community special.

🌙✨ What a magical night! ✨🌙

Thank you to everyone who joined us for Moonlight Magic at the Reynolds House last night. Our historic grounds were filled with laughter, friendship, sisterhood, and memories we won’t soon forget.

Your attendance and generous support help us continue preserving this beautiful 1857 treasure and sharing its story with generations to come. We are so grateful that you chose to be part of its story—and ours.
