The Reynolds House & Foundation

The Reynolds House & Foundation Our mission is to inspire interest in our region’s history through special exhibits, educational programs, and community engagement.

Also, the House is a charming venue for your next small gathering. Tours available on Sundays 1-4pm (Spring thru Fall) The Reynolds House in Cape Girardeau serves as the largest and most visible artifact in our community engagement story. Constructed pre-Civil War in 1857, the home was influenced heavily by the French Colonial architecture that was and still is prevalent along the Mississippi Rive

r Valley. The Reynolds House had been vacant for more than fifty years and was under significant threat of condemnation and demolition by the city. Its ownership changed hands several times over the last fifteen years, but always narrowly missed the wrecking ball. The Reynolds House Foundation was created through the vision of local preservation advocates Earl and Ruth Norman.
