Troop 882

Troop 882 Troop 882 loves adventure! We are an all boy Troop and meet at the Gun Club. We enjoy camping, hiking, service projects, and hands-on learning.

Our Scouts build character, develop leadership, grow into responsible citizens, and have fun together. Troop 882 is a Boy Scout Troop in Canby Oregon. Our Troop has built a foundation of strong principles in our young men as they work and grow into productive, and community focused involved adults; the kind of individuals of integrity what scouting is the foundation of. Scouting has always been ab

out giving the boys opportunities to build leadership skills in their communities. It is also to provide boys with the adventures that they may never have the opportunity to attend. Scouting is all about building life skills and teaching responsible community service and outdoor skills.

A special shoutout to one of our own scouts, who was interviewed by OPB to share what the flag placement tradition means to the next generation. Thank you to everyone who came out to help us honor our nation’s heroes!

For the last 58 years, scouts have placed flags on veterans’ graves at Willamette National Cemetery near Portland to honor them for Memorial Day.

Troop 882's newest Eagle Scout and Troop Bugler Ian sounded Taps at the Mt. Zion Memorial Park Cemetery the afternoon of Memorial Day to honor our heroes who have sacrificed for our country. Earlier in the day a few Troop 882 Scouts met to attend the Canby American Legion Memorial Day Service together. It has been a weekend of service and honor for a deserving community and nation inspiring our Scouts to experience the Scout Oath and Law in action.

On Friday, Troop 882 had the honor of serving at Willamette National Cemetery alongside other Scout and youth organizations, including fellow Canby Scout units, to prepare for Memorial Day by placing flags at the graves of our nation’s heroes. Thank you to the Timberline District for organizing the event.

Our Scouts were assigned one of the larger sections of the cemetery and spent nearly three hours placing about 6,000 flags. Even when other groups finished, not one Scout asked to leave. They worked side by side with cheerful hearts, alongside leaders, families, and even a few Cub Scout Pack 503 siblings.

The most meaningful moment was watching each Scout place a flag, stand back, read the name on the headstone, salute, and quietly say, “Thank you for your service.”

Every flag represented someone who gave part of their life in service to our country. Troop 882 Scouts showed loyalty, , and how to be . They showed true and demonstrated how often means serving others.

Troop 882 is fairly small Troop, but there are FIVE 882 Eagle Scouts in the upcoming graduating class of 2026. All but one has aged out, four are from CHS, one from MHS. All came from the same Den from Cub Scout Pack 503 before Troop 882. We are proud of these Eagles and wish them all the best as they prepare for the adventure of graduation... less than a month away!
