A prayer to prepare for worship tomorrow.
Almighty and most merciful God, Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, You have called us into the communion of Your holy Church and invited us to draw near through Your beloved Son, our only Mediator, great High Priest, and eternal King.
Grant us grace to fulfill our sacred duty with repentance, faith, reverence, thanksgiving, and love.
Cleanse our hearts by Your Holy Spirit.
Remove from us all hypocrisy, pride, bitterness, distraction, unbelief, presumption, and secret attachment to sin.
Reconcile us to our brethren, and make us ready to confess our sins, receive Your pardon, hear Your Word, profess the faith, offer our prayers, and come with holy desire to the Table of the Lord.
Open the Holy Scriptures to us, that we may behold the glory of Christ, believe His promises, submit to His commandments, and be renewed in the knowledge of Your truth.
Prepare us also to receive the holy signs and seals of the body and blood of Christ, not trusting in our own righteousness nor approaching through the bare outward act, but resting wholly upon Your mercy and feeding upon Christ in our hearts by faith through the power of the Holy Spirit.
Grant that through this Divine Liturgy Your name may be glorified, Your Church may be edified, the weak may be strengthened, the sorrowful comforted, the careless awakened, the penitent assured, and all Your people renewed in holiness, unity, and love.
Make us one body in Christ.
Strengthen us to resist the world, the flesh, and the devil.
Send us forth to serve You faithfully, to love our neighbors, to care for the poor, to instruct our households, to confess Christ before the nations, and to seek the coming of His kingdom.
Receive our worship through Jesus Christ, who offered Himself once for all upon the cross, who rose bodily from the dead, who reigns at Your right hand, and who ever lives to intercede for us.
We adore You and bless You, O Triune God, for by the holy cross and victorious resurrection of Christ You have redeemed Your people, conquered sin and death, and opened to us the way of everlasting life.
To You, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, be all glory, honor, worship, and praise, now and forever.
Amen.
