Summer Camp Season is Almost Here! ☀️

We want to send a huge shoutout to all of the amazing youth leaders across our SWB programs who are gearing up for a meaningful summer ahead. ⚽

From mentoring younger players, to helping lead activities, create welcoming spaces, and bring positive energy every single day – these young leaders are at the heart of what makes our communities so special. ✨

We’re beyond grateful for the care, leadership, and joy they bring both on and off the field. We truly can’t wait to see the magic that they will bring to our programs this summer. 💙

Fauzia’s Practice Visit to SWB Massachusetts! ✨

A few weeks ago, we got to welcome Boston Legacy FC’s Fauzia Najjemba to our East Boston middle school girl’s practice! Fauzia is part of the expansion team’s inaugural roster in the National Women’s Soccer League, and she is also one of the nominees of the Lauren impact award. Fauzia has chosen to partner with SWB Massachusetts for this award! 🏆

Fauzia and the girls connected in a team builder of get-to-know you questions & team challenges. We also put Fauzia in the hot seat during Q&A time where girls asked fun questions & but also very deep ones like what was the most challenging thing you overcame to get where you are today; what is the hardest thing about your job. ⚽

The girls were thrilled to have her at the field asking endless questions, getting autographs, and also learning about her culture! 🇺🇬

At SWB we celebrate our diverse cultures, and so these small additional moments throughout the practice of learning words in a new language, talking about favorite music & food, and even learning a new dance are the essence of what makes SWB such a special community – no matter where you come from you will be welcome here! 🫶

Teams thrive when trust, communication, and care exist both on and off the field. 💙⚽

At SWB Massachusetts, players recently came together for a wellness-focused team session centered on creating shared agreements, supporting one another, and building a space where every girl feels safe, heard, and valued.

These moments matter. Holistic support means creating environments where young people can grow in confidence, strengthen relationships, and show up fully as themselves. Because when youth feel supported off the field, they’re able to thrive on it too. ✨

Shoutout to the coaches, mentors, and partners helping make spaces like this possible every day.

The Urafiki Boys League is in full swing at Soccer Without Borders Uganda! 💙🇺🇬

Across the first two match days, boys from different communities and backgrounds came together for more than just football – creating space for connection, teamwork, joy, and new friendships both on and off the pitch. ⚽

From warm greetings between teams to moments of laughter, competition, and community, the league continues to grow as a positive and welcoming space for young people to belong, play, and thrive together. 🫶

Thank you to all of the teams, coaches, and community members helping bring the spirit of Urafiki to life each week. We can’t wait for the next sessions! ✨

From our community to the world stage.

We’re proud to share that 66 participants from SWB Massachusetts and 56 participants from SWB Bay Area will be part of the FIFA World Cup 26™ Player Es**rt Program.

They were identified through our community in recognition of the role they already play here and the values, commitment and contribution they show every day.

Across the tournament, they’ll walk onto the pitch alongside some of the biggest soccer players in the world, a huge moment for the participants and for our wider community as well.

This opportunity is part of a wider program supported by Quaker and Common Goal connecting young people from communities across the United States to FIFA World Cup 26™.

What happens when soccer becomes the one shared language in a brand-new country?

SWB Executive Director Jennifer Tepper and SWB Massachusetts Program Director Bruno Contreras recently joined NPR’s Skin in the Game to talk about how soccer can create belonging, trust, and opportunity for underserved youth.

The conversation explores inclusive coaching, mentorship, and the power of relationships both on and off the field.

Last Saturday, Soccer Without Borders celebrated 20 years of soccer, education, and community at our 20th Anniversary Celebration in the Bay Area.

Together, supporters, partners, staff, volunteers, alumni, and community members came together to celebrate the power of belonging and the spaces that make it possible for young people to thrive.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of our community through ticket sales, sponsorships, donations, our live auction, paddle raise, and raffle, we raised more than $250,000 to support newcomer youth in the Bay Area, across our U.S. programs, and internationally in Uganda and Nicaragua.

We are especially grateful to the sponsors and partners who helped make the evening possible. Your support helped create a celebration that reflected the heart of SWB and the impact this community has built over the past 20 years.

As Dr. Hajar Abulfazl shared during the evening:

“Young people don’t need everything to change. They just need one space. One team. One coach. One moment where they are seen and supported.”

Thank you to everyone who joined us in celebrating this milestone and investing in the future of young people and families across the SWB community.
