Our Founding

Named for the first Black woman to graduate from Radcliffe College, the Alberta V. Scott (AVS) Leadership Academy gives participating 10th, 11th and 12th grade girls the opportunity to cultivate leadership skills and individual creativity through an expansive mentorship program. An initiative of the undergraduate student organization, the Association of Black Harvard Women (ABHW), participating scholars will learn from Black women at Harvard, giving them the tools to succeed in the college process and beyond. In addition, scholars will have access to many opportunities and resources, such as campus programming/events and networks in fields of their interest.
