Jericho Circle Project

Jericho Circle Project Jericho Circle facilitates healing circles in correctional settings.

The Jericho Circle Project Mission Is to facilitate men’s healing circles behind correctional walls. We support each man to discover deep truths about himself, to strengthen internal resources, and to be authentic and productive. Through group experience, each man opens to emotional awareness and increases mastery of clear communication, trust, and personal integrity. This man is empowered to define his personal mission, serve his community, and transform his life.

The numbers are moving in the right direction.

Recidivism is falling nationwide, with three-quarters of states seeing improvement- including where we are in Massachusetts, where rates have dropped by double digits 🙌 CSG Justice Center

Fewer people returning to prison means more people finding stability, purpose, and connection.

Real change doesn’t happen by chance.

It happens when people are given ACCESS to the resources that make lasting change possible: mental health care, treatment, employment opportunities, and stable housing.

We provide the space for emotional growth and healing for those incarcerated and returning citizens to feel seen, heard, and supported through Healing Circles.

Transformation takes root TOGETHER.

If you feel pulled to this mission, volunteer with us, you can learn more here: https://www.jerichocircle.org/volunteer

Some of the most important answers in life can’t be found in books.

After more than 40 years teaching sociology and criminal justice, Steve Spitzer began to feel the limits of academia. He realized that true understanding- of himself and others- required something deeper.

So he stepped outside of it.

He began his journey into men’s work over 25 years ago, sitting in circles through the The ManKind Project and later volunteering with Inside Circle at California State Prison- Sacramento.

It was there- inside prison walls- that he experienced the kind of raw, honest human connection that couldn’t be taught in a classroom.

In 2001, he brought that experience to Massachusetts and founded the Jericho Circle Project, starting with a single program at the Federal Medical Center at Devens.

His vision was simple: create space for those who are incarcerated to heal, reconnect, and find their voice.

That one circle has since grown into programs across multiple correctional facilities throughout Massachusetts, Maine, and Connecticut- impacting hundreds of lives along the way.

Follow along to support our work and be part of a community creating space for transformation.

There are moments that mark a turning point.

What Jeff describes isn’t just change- it’s the slow return of parts of himself he thought were gone for good.

This is the impact of Jericho Circle Project: creating space to breathe again, reconnect, and rebuild from the inside out.

Our beliefs don’t stay personal, they shape the way we show up for others.

Redemption. Forgiveness. Second chances.

When people are given the opportunity to change, it doesn’t just impact one life, it ripples through every person involved, including all of us here at Jericho Circle Project.

That’s where so many reentry journeys begin.

Uncertainty. Instability. Starting over without a clear path forward.

But with the right support, things can change.

Second chances aren’t just about opening a door to a steady job or a place to call home.

They’re also about making sure someone can walk through that door and keep going.

This is what we believe in. This is what we work toward every day.

Follow us if you also believe in second chances. ✨ Stay to see for yourself, the transformations of our Healing Circles.

Let’s be honest, we talk about second chances like they’re easy to come by.

They’re not.

For many people returning home after incarceration, the system isn’t set up for success- it’s set up for survival.

Survival isn’t the same as rebuilding a life.

This is why fair chances matter.

Why support matters, which is why we show up.

✨ Share this post to spread awareness, you never know who needs the support.

We are proof that this work truly works.

We have had more than 2,000 incarcerated participants step into Healing Circles.

Through our work, these spaces support emotional healing, accountability, and real change, not only for those inside prison but for those outside of the walls, creating stronger communities.

✨ Share this to help spread awareness about emotional healing in the justice system.
