Mystery at the Shoe Shop: An Interactive Murder Mystery Dinner

Step back into Burton, Texas, 1933 for an intimate evening of secrets, cocktails, incredible food—and murder.

For one night only, the historic Otto & Annie Wehring Shoe Shop & Residence will become the setting for an immersive, interactive murder mystery experience limited to just 14 guests.

Every guest becomes part of the story. Throughout the evening, you’ll uncover secrets, follow clues, question your fellow guests, and attempt to solve the mystery—all while enjoying an elevated farm-to-table dinner and premium cocktail pairings.

Your $250 ticket includes:

A fully interactive murder mystery experience
A 4-course farm-to-table dinner by Deeply Rooted Ranch

Another part of local farming history that we don't often think about is how most families around Burton and Texas grew fruit trees on their property to help feed the family in addition to their vegetable garden. Today we enjoyed a delicious pear grown on a tree just behind the gin near the Wehring House. Big thanks to a generous donation back in 2018 by Heidi Jaster these were planted! :) We smile to think we are keeping another great part of local history alive with things like this! And stop by the museum if you want to grab a pear. Since this event was a big hit last year, we are bringing back our Homeschool Open House!

Bring a lunch, your curious minds, and spend the day with us learning all things cotton, ginning, spinning, weaving, leatherworking, and more. All ages are welcome to attend!

This year's date is Wednesday, September 30th from 10am-2pm.

🌸 Have you stopped by to check out our cotton patch this summer?
Our local workers have pollen in love with all the blossoms. We even caught this little guy yellow-handed making sure everything stays buzzworthy 🐝

🌱 Now is the perfect time to catch the cotton blossoms in full bloom. In just a few short weeks, we will have the first fluffy cotton bolls of the season, and we couldn’t be more excited!
