A night of celebration and appreciation as we joined together last night to recognize the service of all members as we close out our 2025-2026 year. We honored the outstanding leadership of our committee chairs, expressing heartfelt gratitude to our departing Board, and warmly welcoming our incoming Board for 2026-2027, while inducting 4 new members, bringing back one member from a year off and extending sincere appreciation to all our members for empowering women and girls in our community and globally. It was a night of friendship and being thankful for the gift of service our members continue to gift to Invest in Dreams for women and girls 💙💛💙

On May 31st, we bid a heartfelt farewell to our beloved friend and devoted Soroptimist member, Kathi Kallstrom Marilley, whose passing after a fall at home left an unfillable void in our lives. With a remarkable 40-year legacy of service, Kathi joined our Burlington Soroptimist Club in 1986, inspiring countless individuals, and proudly served as club president in 2007-2008. Her tireless dedication shone brightly through her unwavering commitment to various committees, most notably the BayView Women's Run, where she warmly welcomed participants with a radiant smile as she was our leading “traffic queen”! Even after the Thrift Shop closed its doors in 2013, Kathi's selflessness continued to impact our community. Her generous spirit, infectious love, and warm hospitality made everyone feel treasured and valued. We will gather to celebrate Kathi's life on July 25th at the Vanderveen Farm Venue from 11:30-2:00, 15673 Memorial Hwy Mount Vernon, honoring the profound impact of this extraordinary woman, a true pillar of the Burlington community.
A special tribute to Kathi will also be featured on the Hawthorne website, allowing her legacy to continue inspiring us all.

We are thrilled to announce the recipients of our Memorial scholarship, awarded to two outstanding seniors at Mount Vernon HS, (L) Molly Thompson and (R) Cynthia Bautista-Cuzman, as Soroptimist member JoAnn Webster proudly presents. We celebrate these remarkable young women for their exceptional achievements and extend our best wishes for their future academic pursuits. Scholarship Celebration at Skagit Valley College, we were able to get pictures of 3 out of our 6 Soroptimist Int’l of Burlington “Women in Trades” recipients where they shone bright alongside hundreds more.
