Yesterday, as we were getting ready for Thanksgiving, we found this handwritten note left on one of the tables at our soup kitchen.

It stopped us in our tracks.

On a day when so many think about gratitude, someone who is struggling took the time to put their thanks into words. Their message - about kindness, unity, and the blessing of helping others - touched every one of us.

As we serve Thanksgiving meals today, and as we expand to more neighborhoods to meet the growing need, notes like this remind us why we do this work… and who we’re doing it for.
