When My Destiny Comes into Focus

2 Corinthians 4:17-18 (NKJV)
17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, is working for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory,
18 while we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

When Paul spoke to us about our afflictions as being light, he was speaking through experience. Even with that thought in mind, while you are going through something, in that moment, it may not seem like a light affliction at all. Sometimes the suffering that you may be enduring can seem intolerable.

Yet the eternal weight of God's glory tips the scales in comparison to our sufferings. Just take a moment to check out this list of sufferings that Paul went through in 2 Corinthians 11:23-28: stripes, prisons, beaten, stoned, and shipwrecked. Just to name a few.

Blue Bible Commentary says, “Those were just the physical, outward sufferings – what about the spiritual burdens he bore and spiritual attacks he faced?”

Romans 8:18 (NKJV)
For I consider the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.”
The word glory is literally translated “heavy weight.” Keith Copland says, “meaning the heaviest, biggest, grandest thing about someone. It has been called the manifested presence of God, but more than just a presence, it’s power. The kind of power that resurrects, delivers, overcomes, and transforms. It is greater and stronger than any other power in existence. And it belongs to us.”
Let me conclude today with this thought in mind. All these afflictions are said to help build our character, and may it be so. But God does not send sickness, disease, or even the afflictions that we suffer, to teach us a lesson!

Do we learn from them? Of course we do, but what the devil means to do to harm you, God turns for good, and through the power given to you by the Holy Spirit, you shall lead many people to eternal salvation through Jesus Christ our Lord.

John 14:26
But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, He shall teach you all things.
Look for God’s glory. That’s when your destiny will come into focus.
Father, my prayer for today is that we would learn to look at the adversities thrown at us through the eyes of the Holy Spirit as our True Teacher. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

Seeking God’s kingdom

I know that the Bible says that we are to be anxious for nothing. Jesus puts it this way in the Book of Matthew 6:31-33:

"Therefore, do not be anxious, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the Gentiles seek after all these things,
and your heavenly Father knows that you need them all. But seek first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things will be added to you."

So, the alternative for not being anxious is to actively be seeking, or searching, for the kingdom of God. The number one way of doing that is through prayer and supplication. I heard someone once say, “Has it come down to that? You mean now I need to pray?” Prayer should not be the last thing that we do. No, it should be the first thing that we should do.

You have on open invitation to have an exclusive one-on-one conversation with the God who created the heavens and the earth.

So, let's set aside all of our cares or worries, and lay them at His feet. Actively engage us in seeking first His kingdom and His righteousness. Prayer means more than talking, it also means listening.

I found this information about righteousness:
“It says here to seek the kingdom of God and His (righteousness).
But Jesus said we not only need to seek first the kingdom of God, but also, we must seek first His righteousness.

"A. The word righteousness can be defined simply as holy and upright living, in keeping with God's standard, because of having a pure and clean heart.

"B. The word comes from a root word that means "straightness," and refers to the act of conforming to God’s authoritative standard of right and wrong.

"C. One of the attributes of God, mentioned throughout the Scriptures, is the attribute of righteousness.”

Father, it is difficult for us to seek out righteousness without having Your presence; Your kingdom living on the inside of us. But as a child of Yours, these characteristics are made available to those who believe as we actively pursue them with a willing heart, and we believe that we shall receive, in Jesus' name. Amen.

He Is Everything to Me

Ephesians 3:20-21 (KJV)
20 "Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us,
21 “to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus to all generations, forever and ever. Amen."

More than amazing!

He promised us that He would be a counselor, a Mighty God, and the Prince of Peace. He promised us that He would be a Father, and that He would love us with a love that would not cease.

Well, I tried Him, and I found His promises are true. He's everything He said that He would be.
The finest words I know could not begin to tell just what Jesus really means to me.

For He's more wonderful than my mind can conceive.
He's more wonderful than my heart can believe.
He goes beyond my highest hopes and fondest dreams.
He's everything that my soul ever longed for.
Everything He's promised and so much more.
More than amazing, more than marvelous, more than miraculous could ever be.
He's more than wonderful; that's what Jesus is to me.

I stand amazed when I think that the King of Glory should come to dwell within the heart of man. I marvel just to know He really loves me
When I think of who He is and who I am.

Father, You are more than I could ever hope for. Thank You for being my Father. In Jesus' name, Amen.

Who is Like the Lord Our God

PSALMS 113:1-5 (KJV)
1 "Praise ye the LORD. Praise, O ye servants of the LORD, praise the name of the LORD.
2 "Blessed be the name of the LORD from this time forth and for evermore.
3 "From the rising of the sun unto the going down of the same the LORD'S name is to be praised.
4 "The LORD is high above all nations, and his glory above the heavens.
5 "Who is like unto the LORD our God, who dwelleth on high,"

There is not one god that can even come close in comparison to our God. Have you ever met that person who seems to be completely obsessed with being the best at everything? The best singer, the best preacher, the best whatever it is -- yeah, you know what I’m talking about. The only thing that they are the best at is bragging about themselves.

Who is like our God? Truly, really, there is no god like our God. In the Book of Isaiah, the Lord challenges Israel to compare Him with their false gods. "Who is like me," He says.

Father, I say this, let these false gods proclaim the future with great accuracy, like You do. They still cannot compare! There’s no god like Jehovah! Were they there when You created us in the beginning? Come on, saints, let the earth rejoice and be glad at the presence of our God! You are a Mighty God, a wonderful Counselor, our heavenly Father, our Lord, and Savior. We stand in awe of You, rejoicing in Your great love for us, Your creation. Be glorified on the earth! In Jesus's name I pray, Amen, and amen.

Find the Time to Rest in Him

Matthew 11:28-30 (KJV)
28 "Come unto me, all ye that labor and are heavily laden, and I will give you rest.
29 "Take my yoke upon you and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.
30 "For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light."

These verses describe the state that we find many men and women in around the world today. Stressed out to the max with all this COVID and finances, and the threat of war that hovers over us. We must make a positive move toward Christ to find the rest we so desperately need.

When Jesus made this statement here, He saw how the religious leaders of that day would heap up spiritual duties for the people to perform. These same leaders could not, or would not, keep them but would impose them on the people. These rulers were a burden.

Luke 11:46 (NASB)
46 "But He said, “Woe to you lawyers as well! For you weigh men down with burdens hard to bear, while you yourselves will not even touch the burdens with one of your fingers."

Thank You, Father, for Your word, which says that Your yoke is easy, and Your burden is light. For those who are in a constant, weary, and burdensome situation, You help them find rest for their soul. Help us find that place of peace and rest. In Jesus' name, Amen.

At the End of the Day

Romans 12:2
2 "Do not be conformed to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind."

I am determined, with God's help, to never relinquish or put aside anything that God has given me to run in this race that I am in. Even though I may feel the pressures of life that may seem to have slowed me down for a moment, I will renew my mind with His word.

But at the end of the day, can somebody say that with me -- at the end of the day -- I am still standing. At the end of the day, I am still walking, and at the end of the day I am preparing a harvest of souls and that makes me happy! HA, HA!

Testimony: I went to a Cracker Barrel restaurant last week. The young man who seats you at your table had his hand all wrapped up with bandages. I asked him, "What in the world happened to you?" He replied that he was trying to get into his mother's house and broke the window, cutting himself pretty badly. Then he listed several other things that he had gone through recently.

I told him he needed to get serious about giving his heart to Jesus and then ask Jesus to help him overcome some of these attacks against him. He prayed with me and asked Jesus into his heart. I asked him what his name was, and he replied, “Deion, you know like Deion Sanders”. I smiled and told him that my last name was Sanders. This was a divine appointment.

Father, I thank You for letting me pray for this young man and I’m looking forward to divine appointments in Jesus's name, Amen.

So Now I Need to Ask Myself This Question, who am I?

Can you give me a true definition of who you have become now that you are a born-again Christian? I wrote a song a few years ago called "Wild At Heart." This is how it starts out:
"Who am I
What am I made of
What am I destined for
There is a raging war to prepare for
So put on the armor of the Lord"

It was when I finally came to the point that I realized how much God truly loves me for who I am that my thoughts about my performance at my job, or my financial status, or even how I measured up to other people's skills in the ministry soon began to fade away. I started to lose those overwhelming pressures in myself to earn God’s favor.
Listen to this explanation that I found about how God sees us from Melissa Crutchfield:

“First, we must know how God sees us. One of the richest passages about identity in the Bible is found in Ephesians 1:3-14. In this passage, Paul addresses the church in Ephesus, explaining the new identity given to a person when they are in Christ.

"According to Ephesians 1, we have been blessed with every spiritual blessing; we have been chosen, adopted, redeemed, forgiven, grace-lavished, and unconditionally loved and accepted. We are pure, blameless and forgiven. We have received the hope of spending eternity with God. When we are in Christ, these aspects of our identity can never be altered by what we do.”

Father, I am so glad that You see me through the blood of Jesus Christ and that You have nothing but good things in store for me. Even in my many failures You still reach out and lift me back up on my feet.

Open my eyes to see how much You love me and have made a way for me where there seems to be none. I thank You for Your great favor and for Your love and mercy towards me. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.

What Am I Made Of, Or What Is My DNA?

Romans 8:14-17
"For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by Him we cry, 'Abba, Father.' The Spirit Himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in His sufferings in order that we may also share in His glory."

Here is a word that I found, and I quote,
“In the Kingdom of God, spiritual life begins when the seed of God’s word is received in the soil of a human heart. This leads to spiritual new birth, spiritual growth and spiritual multiplication.”

Look at this simple definition of what DNA is: "DNA is the material that carries all the information about how a living thing will look and function...”

John 14:8-10
8 Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us.”
9 Jesus replied, “Philip, I have been with you all this time, and still, you do not know Me? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, ‘Show us the Father?’
10 Do you not believe that I am in the

Father and the Father is in Me? The words I say to you, I do not speak on
My own. Instead, it is the Father dwelling in Me, performing His works.

Being born again is “The Who Am I” or spiritual entrance into the kingdom of God. Spiritual growth is the process in learning about what I am in Him and I discover this by studying the life of Christ so I can be formed into His image. This is where the revelation of how my destiny comes into focus.

Father, I want to be more like Jesus. Thank You for the Holy Spirit that trains me in the gifts that You have provided for us to be able to fulfill the plans that You have for our lives. Help us to grow and to mature each day. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
