** HAZEL 2 UPDATE **

Hazel is settled into a temporary foster home while she waits on a permanent hospice foster to volunteer to take her into their home.

She has clearly been an inside dog because she is house trained, knows how good life is on the furniture, sleeps in a dog bed, and knows the ins and outs of food in the kitchen. She is a delight!

If you are interested in hearing more about being a hospice foster for Hazel 2, email [email protected] and her temp foster will give you a call. Reminder - we pay for food and vet care for the rest of her life.

Thank you!

4TH POST ! ❤ MAX 5 AND CAESAR 3 ARE AVAILABLE FOR ADOPTION THROUGH US! PLEASE SHARE THIS BONDED PAIR! ❤
TULSA, OK

Hi I’m Caesar and I’m Max and we are both 8 years old, weigh 120lbs each and we are available for adoption from Lab Rescue OK. Sadly our owner died and the great people at Lab Rescue took us in. We are litter mates so literally have been together our entire lives and hope to stay that way. We are a little chunky and need to lose some weight which we are working on but it’s going to take a while. We are both love bugs! Very sweet and love to be petted. We do know sit and will sit for treats. We like toys and will play with stuffed toys and take the stuffing out and we like squeaky balls and bones too. We are both perfectly house trained, healthy, have low to medium energy, can be left uncrated when unattended, do well on leash, we like other dogs and ride well in the car! Cesar is the leader and Max likes to follow along. We’d love to find our furever family to get healthy with. (more pics in comments)

Their adoption fee will be $450 for both dogs. Please click here to apply to adopt: https://www.labrescue.net/adoption-application/

🔥🐾 THURSDAY TRUTH BOMB: THE PART OF RESCUE PEOPLE DON’T SEE. 🐾🔥

Let’s talk about our adoption requirements.

One question we hear is:

“Why do you require ALL dogs in the home to be spayed or neutered before approving an adoption?”

The answer starts with something most people never have to experience.

Dogs die every single day because there are more dogs needing help than there are people and resources available to save them.

And sometimes, rescuers have to make a decision that haunts them.

A shelter sends a plea.

You look at the dog.
You see the face.
You read the story.
You know they’re scared.
You know they didn’t choose to be there.

And you want to say YES. God, you want to say yes.But there isn’t a foster home. There isn’t another kennel. There isn’t enough money. There isn’t another rescue willing or able to take them.

So you have to say NO.

And then you have to live with knowing that your “no” may mean that dog doesn’t get another chance.

Those are the dogs rescuers don’t forget. The ones whose pictures stay in your phone. The ones you wonder about months later. The ones you remember when another plea comes across your screen.

And sometimes, the question isn’t “Can we save this dog?”

It’s “Which dog can we save?”

There is nothing easy about that. It breaks hearts. It changes people. And yes, it haunts rescuers.

That’s why we believe prevention matters just as much as rescue.

We cannot keep pulling dogs from shelters while more dogs are being born into a world that doesn’t have enough homes for the ones already here.

We cannot rescue our way out of this crisis.

That’s why all resident dogs must be spayed or neutered before we approve an adoption.

Yes, preventing accidental litters is a major reason. But there is another reason we consider when bringing a new dog into your home.

Adding a dog to a household with unaltered dogs can create additional challenges like mounting, marking, roaming, competition, tension, hormonal behaviors and, of course, the possibility of an accidental breeding.

Even dogs who have always gotten along can have their household dynamics change when a new dog arrives.

And rescue dogs are already dealing with enough.

They’re learning new people.
A new house.
New routines.
New smells.
New animals.
Sometimes they’re learning what safety even feels like.

Our job is to make their transition as safe and stable as possible. It’s about recognizing the reality we see every day.

Because when we’re sitting behind a keyboard looking at a dog we desperately want to save, the number of available foster homes matters.

The number of adoptive homes matters.

The number of dogs entering the system matters.

And every preventable litter matters.

We wish we could save every dog.

We can’t.

But we can choose to be part of the solution.

And if requiring altered resident dogs means that one less dog eventually ends up waiting in a shelter with no rescue able to say yes…then it’s a requirement we’re willing to stand behind.

Just remember: behind every rescue rule is usually a story about a dog. ❤️🐾

And behind every urgent plea is a rescue hoping, praying and sharing with everything they have… that someone will see it in time. ❤️🐾

RIP to all those precious animals who couldn’t be saved.

This is the real side of rescue.

Loki is a black Lab who is approximately 8-9 months old. She loves affection and attention. She is potty trained and loves the outdoors. Loki loves car rides and looking out the window. She loves everyone and is drawn to kids. Loki only barks at squirrels and neighbor dogs on occasion. She will follow you around the house just to see what you are doing and constantly wags her tail. She is great with my teen son and follows him constantly.

Loki was a rescue from a busy McDonald’s parking lot where she was begging for food and limping. I stopped to feed her and was worried her leg might be broken and that someone would hit her. Employees said she had been there for weeks. She was accompanied by a bigger dog who would not come close only for food. The bigger dog ran away and Loki (who I named) stayed wanting love and affection. I took her to the vet that day to examine her leg. It was her paw pad that was torn and red causing her to limp. The vet gave her a rabies shot, flea and tick control and pet ibuprofen for her foot which I paid for as well as a dog bath. She came home with me for recovery. After two days off the street she was walking on her sore foot. And now runs, plays and is a happy girl. Loki is not spayed and will need to be fixed. And likely need vaccines as well. She is well trained so it seems she was someone’s pet at one time. I have reached out to all outlets for the owner and no responses.

She is with us at our house for now, 99% indoors so she is safe, healthy and happy. But we want to find her a forever home. We have three indoor cats. Loki would love to go to a home where someone could give her constant love and attention. She has never had an accident in the house. She would be an awesome companion. Please find a place in your heart and home for this beautiful puppy.

FOUND DOG — RESCUE OR FOSTER NEEDED 💕

Meet one very lucky little lady who has already had quite the turnaround.

She was found dumped on the side of the road, where she had apparently been surviving for more than two weeks and was even eating roadkill. Neighbors had been trying to help by feeding her scraps, but it was clear she needed more.

She has now been seen by a vet and is officially on the road to a much better life. She has no microchip, but she received all of her vaccines, flea/tick and heartworm preventative care, and a dose of dewormer just to be safe.

She appears to be a young pit mix, likely over 6 months old, and she is an absolute sweetheart. She has been great with kids, great with other dogs, shown zero signs of aggression, and somehow appears to already be house-trained — not a single accident in the home so far!

She is currently safe with a temporary foster, but due to health concerns, they are unfortunately not able to foster her long-term. So now we’re hoping to find a rescue or foster who can be her next stop on the way to a forever home.

She’s sweet, social, well-mannered and clearly ready to trade roadside survival for couches, belly rubs and a family of her own.

If you know of a reputable rescue, foster, or placement opportunity, please reach out. 🐾💕 Contact April Dies for more information about this dog.

Please share to increase exposure if you can. Thank you!
