Green Mountain College in Vermont has closed. Its eccentric owner is looking for new uses. Instead of continuing to make Bridgewater a coffee campus, maybe we should open a new one.
The owner is seeking proposals with an oddly religious bent, but since the fair-trade coffee movement has been built by faith communities, maybe we could make that work.
By "we" I mean someone else, with me as a consultant. I'm too close to retirement to take this on, but not too close to help someone else.
Side note: one of my favorite undergraduate professors was Dr. Tom Benson. He was a religious person and a philosopher who went on to president of Green Mountain College. So maybe we could use that!
Liquor magnate Raj Bhakta has scrapped his plans to turn Green Mountain into a $100 million complex of hotel rooms, condos, and a micro-distillery.
