I chose to move my family and attend Bridgewater State, seeking a focused academic environment away from city distractions. This decision unexpectedly pushed me out of isolation and into community engagement. Learning about the town and its people transformed my experience, prompting me to get involved in a nonprofit to help others facing similar struggles.

Forget just asking for donations. The real power of a nonprofit is in its secondary benefits. By listening to what the community truly needs—like markets and events—we create something that keeps giving, rather than just holding out a hand.

The Hometown Hero banner program is now under the nonprofit banner, thanks to Dave Moore. As his team ages out, we're stepping in to ensure this vital community program continues. We're putting our resources and manpower behind it, keeping the legacy alive.

It was once an uninhabitable eyesore, but after four years of dedicated community effort, sweat equity, and volunteer time, our town's space is finally a place for people to enjoy. It's not perfect, but we're getting there, built entirely through our own hard work.
