We are soliciting volunteers for this Saturday, May 14, from 8am until noon or so. We meet in the parking lot of the Academy building. The Hometown Hero Banner committee sure could use your help! Each team of 2 or 3 people drive pole to pole and secure the banners onto the existing brackets with zip ties. A 3 person team would consist of 1 driver, 1 person to go up a 6 foot ladder and secure the banner and 1 person to assemble the banner and pass it up to the person on the ladder. A 2 person team would consist of one person doing double duty, maybe driving and assembling the banner. It really is a lot of fun. Last year was the first year I was able to participate and I had a good time! I had the opportunity to get a good look at each veteran banner and we talked about the ones we knew, all good of course! most of the people on the committee are older (ok, elderly 😬) and shouldn’t be going up and down ladders. That is what we really need help with…. The program has grown so much that we have more banners than volunteers to implement it. Any takers?

The 2021 Hometown Hero Veterans banner display is about to begin. On May 1, we will begin placing banners around town. This year we are beginning with 150 banners so we need all the help we can get. In most cases the pole brackets are up so all that we have to do is insert the banners and poles into the brackets and fasten them in place with zip ties. Equipment needed as a 10'-12' and a 5/16" wrench to tighten the straps if needed. A shorter ladder for around the common. Not everyone needs equipment, just your participation to steady the ladder and hand up the banners. All work is done from the sidewalk.
If you can help us out please meet with us in the Academy Bldg parking lot at 9 AM on Sat May 1. Will will be working at various times all week, until they are all up, so if you can't make it Saturday there are other times to help out during the week, just call or email for more info.
Give us a hand honoring our vets!
