TJ2 recently competed at the FIRST World Championships, at the George R Brown Convention Center, in Houston, TX. This event hosts competing teams from all 3 FIRST programs as well as vendors, sponsors, and interested spectators. Teams at the FIRST World Championship range from FLL (grades K-8), FTC (grades 7-12), FRC (grades 9-12), and come from across the United States and around the world!
Our FRC competition featured 8 full competition fields, for a total of 600 teams. TJ2 had the great honor of playing on the Newton field alongside 74 other teams from across the United States, Israel, the UK, Mexico, Turkey, Chinese Taipei, and Brazil. Our students had the opportunity to meet many of these teams, ask questions, and also share about themselves. It truly is a different experience to be able to walk up to someone from another country and learn and share with them.
Worlds does more than run 3 different levels of robot competitions. Participants can also take part in the innovation fair where they can interact with sponsors, supporters, and exhibits featuring manufacturing equipment and other items. Students also have the opportunity to connect with colleges and universities on Scholarship Row.
The team cannot thank our sponsors, mentors, coaches, families and community members enough for all your support and hard work in making our experience at the World stage possible. We now set our sights on the Massachusetts State Championship, in North Andover MA, on Saturday, May 30th. OH YEAH!
