Join Groundwork Bridgeport in our new Garden Showcase series where we will highlight different community gardens across Bridgeport to give community members a chance to see what is growing locally! We will have light refreshments, a garden cooking demo, and other activities to showcase the garden and get you connected. This will be a great opportunity for you to meet gardeners to share techniques, or simply a way to explore a new space in Bridgeport!

Join us this week as we continue our Weeding Wednesday series at the Hough Ave. Community Garden! We’ll be laying down wood chips to help control w**ds, making the garden easier to maintain and more usable for gardeners.

Everyone is welcome to come, meet other volunteers, and lend a hand! We have tools and gloves available, but feel free to bring your own.

Join us tomorrow, Wednesday, August 5th from 3–5pm at Ridge Ave. Community Garden! We’ll continue laying down tarp between the garden beds and topping it with wood chips to help control w**ds, making the garden easier to maintain and more usable for gardeners.

EXTREME HEAT THROUGH JULY 3, 2026

An extreme heat watch and extreme heat warning have been issued for Bridgeport and most of Connecticut through the weekend. High temperatures and humidity can make it feel up to 110°F with little night time relief. This extreme heat can pose an increased health risk, especially for older adults, young children, and people with existing health conditions.

Cooling centers are available across Bridgeport including public libraries, senior centers, and the GBT bus station downtown. For locations and hours, as well as other information to stay cool during the heat wave, follow the City of Bridgeport on Facebook (at City of Bridgeport, CT - Government) or Instagram ().

Join us every week on Wednesday from 3pm - 5pm as we w**d, mulch, tend plants, and more at our garden on Helen Street!

Everyone is welcome to come hang - meet other volunteers, get grounded, identify plants, and discuss best gardening practices! We have tools and gloves, but bring yours if you have them/prefer.

We will mainly focus on our educational garden on Helen St. but may spend some weeks at different community gardens across Bridgeport. Please keep an eye on your email (or social media) after registering to confirm which location we’ll meet at on a given day!

This Saturday we are hosting our Garden Kick Off event at our Big Arctic Community Garden*, and we would love to see you there! We are hosting this event as a way for our existing, future, and interested gardeners to come together to meet one another and receive resources to start the gardening season. While supplies last, there will be free starter plants** available for all of our gardeners! If you have not yet applied to garden but would like to learn more about what being a Community Gardener would look like, this event is for you as well!
