Join us every week on Wednesday from 3pm - 5pm as we w**d, mulch, tend plants, and more at our garden on Helen Street!

Everyone is welcome to come hang - meet other volunteers, get grounded, identify plants, and discuss best gardening practices! We have tools and gloves, but bring yours if you have them/prefer.

We will mainly focus on our educational garden on Helen St. but may spend some weeks at different community gardens across Bridgeport. Please keep an eye on your email (or social media) after registering to confirm which location we’ll meet at on a given day!

This Saturday we are hosting our Garden Kick Off event at our Big Arctic Community Garden*, and we would love to see you there! We are hosting this event as a way for our existing, future, and interested gardeners to come together to meet one another and receive resources to start the gardening season. While supplies last, there will be free starter plants** available for all of our gardeners! If you have not yet applied to garden but would like to learn more about what being a Community Gardener would look like, this event is for you as well!

Kick off the spring season outdoors by volunteering at one of our Community Gardens! 🌱

To start the gardening season off strong, we are looking for support getting our growing spaces ready for our gardeners. If you'd like to get involved in the gardens as a volunteer or as a gardener, there is still time to join! Visit www.gwbpt.org/events to learn more and let us know you'll be joining us. Event details:
March 20, 2pm - 6pm - Big Arctic Refresh: We will be w**ding the beds in the garden and prepping the soil to give the gardeners a fresh start for the season.

March 27, 1pm - 5pm - Ogden St. Rebuild: We will be building metal beds at one of our gardens on the East Side of Bridgeport and filling the new beds with fresh soil. No previous building experience necessary!

March 28, 11am - 4pm - Denver Ave. Rebuild: We will be building wooden beds at our West Side Garden and filling the new beds with fresh soil. No previous building experience necessary!

A future trail is coming to Bridgeport—and you can design its logo!

We’re partnering with Trust for Public Land, City of Bridgeport, CT - Government and the Bridgeport Waterfront Advisory Group on this future pathway, which will run through nine neighborhoods, improve access to the waterfront, and connect nearly 40,000 residents within a 10-minute walk to the benefits of nature. This trail will be a beloved destination for walkers, bikers, and families, and the logo should reflect this community-driven green space!

Just over one month ago, our Youth Ambassadors finished their year-long program by presenting findings from community members regarding their desires for the future of the Yellow Mill River area. This meeting joined forces with the Waterfront Advisory Board and East Side NRZ members to get Bridgeport waterfront advocates and East Side residents in shared space to hear what our Youth Ambassadors have learned and further inspire the future design plans led by .
