**A Deeper Thank You to Chapter 76 AMVETS Riders**
We already thanked Chapter 76 Athens Amvets Riders for their generous $2,276.00 gift to Beyond The Shadows — but this one deserves more than a quick post.
For years, "22 a day" has been the number that built a movement — the figure that got veteran su***de talked about in living rooms, statehouses, and church basements across the country. It came from a 2012 VA report and it stuck, because it was simple and it was enough to make people angry that it was true.
The VA's newest data, released this year, puts the number at 17.5 a day. Lower — and still 17.5 too many. Still more than six thousand veterans a year. Still fathers, still sons and daughters, still the guy who used to fix your car or sat next to you in church.
So when Chapter 76 AMVETS Riders hands us a gift, the number 76 isn't just a post number to us. It's a reminder that behind every chapter, every post, every group of veterans who show up for each other on a Tuesday night — there are men and women carrying weight none of us can fully see. And it's a reminder of exactly why Beyond The Shadows exists: to be there in the first 30 days after a su***de loss, when a family doesn't know which way is up.
Chapter 76 — you didn't just write a check. You told every family we walk beside that veterans see this fight, and they're in it with us. 22 - 76 more than numbers to us....
Today is R.E.D. Friday — Remember Everyone Deployed. Fitting timing to say it out loud: thank you for remembering, and for standing with the families we serve.
