Last week a couple of our long-term rescue pups made a trip to see the cardiologist near Minneapolis.

Forrest’s heart disease has not progressed much, which is great news. However, little Ebony’s has. In addition to increasing her Vetmedin dose, she is starting a very mild diuretic (Spironolactone). Her foster family has noticed changes in her - lethargy/fatigue, occasionally skipping meals, etc.

Taking care of all of these high medical needs pups adds up quickly, and we could really use a boost.

We’ve also had several pups recently who required expensive surgeries/procedures.

Any amount truly helps and is immensely appreciated.
Our team is tired and running out of steam but trying to remain hopeful.
The financial side of rescue is an ongoing battle that truly never ends.

Meet Forrest 🐾🐶❤️

Forrest is a gorgeous 8 year old male Cavalier in search of his forever family.

Forrest came to rescue back in March of this year and has learned so much in his foster home.

He is a love bug. There’s a saying “a female Cavalier will love you but a male Cavalier will be in love with you” and it fits Forrest to a T.

We’ve discovered that Forrest is not a fan of fireworks - he hides and seeks comfort from his humans.
He mingles very well with the other Cavaliers in his foster home.

He is 100% gentleman.

Forrest does have a grade III heart murmur and did have an echocardiogram while in rescue. His heart is currently not enlarged and he is in stage B1 MVD.
No cardiac meds are warranted at this time but it’s important to understand that may change in time.
Forrest requires chest radiographs every 6 months and yearly echocardiograms to monitor his heart disease for progression.

Charlotte’s precious Cavalier babies are officially ready to accept adoption interest and applications 💕

Charlotte has been a truly amazing momma and with the help of her devoted and incredibly loving foster mom, these pups have been raised beautifully.

Charlotte was recently spayed and underwent a dental procedure. She will be looking for a forever family of her own in the coming weeks.

We will be accepting applications through the weekend and will begin reviewing/processing the applications received early next week.

We take pride in placing our dogs in the absolute best homes. Cavaliers are prone to a few different health issues with degenerative heart disease being most significant. Please be sure to read our Cavalier Information page in full and be certain you meet all adoption requirements listed BEFORE applying.

Meet Lana! She is a beautiful standard poodle looking for a family of her own.

She loves walks, hanging in the backyard and of course treats! She is very smart and likes to be with her foster Mom and watch everything she’s doing!

Lana is house trained. She loves laying on big dog beds! She gets along with the other dogs in her foster home.

For more information on Lana use the link below. Application is on our website.

Hank & Millie saw the cardiologist yesterday and both received really good reports.

Hank heard staff talking behind the door, hence the very concerned look on his face. Hank has been with us since May of 2025 and due to his past is still a nervous fella when outside the comfort of his foster home. The staff was amazing with him and he was so happy to come back to me and climb back in his wagon.

Hank was in congestive heart failure when he came to us and has done exceptionally well. The general life expectancy after a dog has been in CHF is approximately 1.5 years (although it can vary of course). It’s been 1 year and 4 months for Hank and we are actually going to try lowering his dose of Furosemide. His heart was only moderately enlarged yesterday with no evidence of CHF.

Millie is in stage B1 MVD so no need to start cardiac medication at this time. She will go in for her spay/dental/mammary mass removal next month and then be available for adoption to a family willing to keep tabs on her heart health.

Over the years, our group has learned so much about cavaliers and their very specific needs. We’ve seen them (along with other breeds) be bred nearly to death and then tossed to the side like damaged goods.
No dog should ever be subjected to such cruelty but when cavaliers (who are so heavily predisposed to numerous serious health issues) are bred relentlessly regardless of their health status, it is absolutely detrimental.

We strive to stand up and advocate for this special breed. We go the extra mile in order to meet their needs

They deserve it and they are worth it.

Thank you for supporting our mission to do right by these dogs 🐾

The Peanuts Gang 🐾🐶

Lucy, Charlie Brown, Linus, Peppermint Patty, and Snoopy will be turning 7 weeks old on Sunday.

They received their first round of vaccinations this week and are very happy, healthy, and spunky little Cavalier puppies. Unfortunately, it was discovered that Lucy and Snoopy have grade III heart murmurs. It’s possible they are innocent puppy murmurs that will disappear by 4 months of age. It’s also possible they have heart defects that can be quite serious. They will need to stay with the rescue for an extended period and likely see a cardiologist to determine what exactly is going on.

I know our page has been quiet and I do apologize. We’ve been so busy caring for several sweet pups and will have several dogs available for adoption very soon. We will be sure to post about each of them ❤️

Right now we could really use prayers and donations to keep us going. Echocardiograms for the puppies will cost roughly $750 each and we could be looking at procedures to repair their hearts at several thousand a piece.

This is the sad reality of commercial dog breeding. The health of the dogs is not a priority. So many unhealthy puppies are sold in pet stores all over the country to trusting families who have no idea about the expense and potential heartache they have in store.

We are very happy to have these sweet pups in rescue, where we will do right by them. So many others are not nearly as lucky.

Peppermint Patty, Linus, and Charlie Brown will be accepting adoption interest in the coming weeks but we are unable to accept adoption interest at this time. We appreciate your patience and understanding.

Where are our Poodle Lovers?!?! 🐩

Willie and Reba are truly the most darling little poodle pair ever and they are in need of a family to call their own.

Where one goes, the other must follow. You will frequently find them snuggled up together on the couch or in a dog bed. They love each other so very much and need a family willing to welcome them home together ❤️🐾

You can read more about them on their individual web pages.

Sweet Khloe had her official spa day with Shannon at Pampered Pets and she’s feeling like a brand new little lady. She just had SO much hair and it was time for a good cleanup.

You’ll notice that the look of terror, confusion, and stress no longer covers her face. Khloe’s transition to rescue has looked a bit different as she had a family that she was bonded to and loved. She’s definitely grieved that loss and continues to do so but has realized she is safe and very loved with us, too.

We pulled Khloe from our local shelter and never met the family who was forced with the very difficult decision to surrender her. However, we hope they might see this post and know that we have her back.

Khloe had her echocardiogram and bloodwork - both of which came back excellent. She will need regular heart checks to monitor things closely for progression.

Her dental is scheduled 7/28 and we cannot wait as that will likely be life-changing for her and her quality of life will truly skyrocket. Imagine having a mouth full of abscessed, infected, and very painful teeth. The constant pain of a cavity times ten or more.

Dental care is so important for pets.

Our rescue has struggled immensely this year but we were recently blessed with a humbling gift that we are truly grateful for.

To all of our supporters who continue to show up for us over and over again - thank you so much.

My rescue survival guide consists of three simple things - Love, Sweat, and Prayer.
❤️🐾🙏🏻

Stay tuned for more information on Khloe as well as other adoptable pups coming soon!
