🚨 DOG FOUND DEAD IN BISCAYNE BAY — WEIGHTED DOWN WITH CINDER BLOCKS 💔🐾

MIAMI, FLORIDA | OCTOBER 15, 2026

A heartbreaking discovery in Miami has sparked an animal-cruelty investigation after a dog was found dead beneath the waters of Biscayne Bay.

On October 13, a dog was discovered submerged near Dinner Key in Coconut Grove. According to witness accounts, the animal was attached to two concrete cinder blocks using a leash and zip ties.

Someone needs to explain how this innocent animal ended up at the bottom of the bay.

💔 Was this dog alive when it entered the water?

💔 Who was responsible for placing it there?

💔 And will the person responsible be held accountable?

These are questions investigators must answer.

Miami Police have opened an investigation. As of October 15, no arrests have been announced in connection with the dog's death.

THIS ANIMAL DESERVES ANSWERS.

Whether this dog was someone's beloved companion or an animal abandoned and forgotten, its life mattered.

It had no voice to tell investigators what happened.

But we have ours. And we intend to use it.

Major is a 65-pound Belgian Malinois. He has spent more than 545 days in a kennel at Austin’s animal shelter, in isolation, without physical contact with people.

On Tuesday a federal judge extended an order stopping the city from putting him down, and said he would rule within ten days on whether to allow an independent assessment of whether Major could be rehabilitated.

The case started in March 2025. Major was off leash in Montopolis when a vehicle hit him, leaving his leg bleeding. His owner, Shane Lilly, panicked, left the dog on a porch and went to fetch his phone from a tent half an hour away.

Two women stopped to help. When one of them tried to lift Major, he bit her. Her arms were punctured badly enough to need staples.

The city obtained a court order to put him down. Lilly appealed three times. The Texas Supreme Court declined to take the case, and he filed a federal disability lawsuit instead, arguing the city never considered that Major was his service animal.

Lilly says he relied on Major for mobility help after a brain injury. The dog was never formally trained.

Judge David Ezra said he saw no villains, only people doing what they believed was right. He also said the shelter’s first duty is public safety.

Outside court, supporters held signs reading “FREE MAJOR.” A petition has passed 50,000 signatures.

BREAKING UPDATE: Police tell me dog was biting the deceased owner as they tried to approach the man - and then the dog became agitated, they say, and began aggressively biting his dead owner

LOYAL UNTIL THE END: Police shoot and kill leashed dog after finding owner dead

St. Petersburg, Florida – This is one of the most heartbreaking stories I've ever reported. A man found dead in the road, his loyal dog still by his side on a leash and then, the unthinkable.

Officers responded to the 2500 block of Quincy Street on Wednesday night. They found a middle-aged man dead, reportedly still holding the leash of his dog. Police say they believe the man was simply walking his dog when he died.

But that was only the beginning of the response. First responders claim the dog was ’acting aggressively’ and had to be shot. I have now confirmed through my former television station, WFLA, that the dog did not survive.

What happened in those moments between finding the man and killing his dog? There is no report of a bite. There is no description of the behavior. Was any attempt made to use non-lethal force, or was the gun the first and only option considered?

We are following up for bodycam footage and answers from St. Petersburg police. I'm told they are expected to release more details tomorrow as they work to piece together the sequence of events.

QUESTION: What is the first question you want police to answer about the decision to kill this leashed dog?

PLEASE READ - IMPORTANT UPDATE

Many of you may recognize this precious soul from a post that went viral yesterday from one of our animal rescue friends locally.

What you didn’t see is for the last 3 weeks, we have been working on this case. Day after day we called police, texted the animal warden, made pleas to save this dog that fell on deaf ears and unwilling hands.

“Why didn’t you just go take the dog?”
1) we can’t just take an animal without police involvement. 2) even when a dog is not tethered and in danger, we still have our hands tied

So we stayed the course and kept demanding justice behind the scenes, and after the public went INSANE with fury for this angel, a miracle happened.

He is SAFE. he’s just a baby and he’s safe at our parish shelter while the legal issues are dealt with AND he has a family waiting for him as soon as this s**t wraps up.

SEE SOMETHING SAY SOMETHING. We only knew about him because tons of concerned citizens kept sending us his photo.

Because of YOU and how LOUD everyone got, he’s safe.

ALSO please note that Jeff Dorson and The Humane Society of Louisiana have been working this case and assisting to their full ability as they do for so many other voiceless creatures across the state! Please support their efforts as well 🤍
