Over the weekend, the Bowling Green Fire Division, Northwestern Ohio Volunteer Firemen's Association (NOVFA), and the Bowling Green Firefighters Community Benefit Fund proudly hosted the NOVFA First Responder Softball Tournament at Carter Park.

This year’s tournament brought together five teams for a great weekend of competition, camaraderie, and support for a meaningful cause. Proceeds from the event will help fund scholarships for students pursuing careers in public safety.

The impact of these scholarships was seen right here at home. As One of Bowling Green Fire Division’s own probationary firefighters, who was a recipient of an BGFFCBF scholarship several years ago, took the field and competed in this year’s tournament. It is a great example of how supporting students today can help develop the first responders who will serve our communities tomorrow.

Congratulations to Wood County Hospital on taking first place and the Wood County Sheriff’s Office on finishing second. Thank you to all five teams for participating and helping make this year’s tournament a success.

We also want to thank all of the volunteers, sponsors, supporters, and community members who helped make the event possible. Events like this highlight the strong partnerships and sense of community shared among first responders and public safety organizations throughout Northwest Ohio.

We look forward to continuing to grow this event and support the next generation of public safety professionals.

If you would like to help out with our cause please speak with a Bowling Green Fire Division Firefighter.

Thank you to our BG VFW Post 1148 for their extremely generous donation towards our Residential Knox Box Program. This donation allowed us to purchase an additional 11 boxes!

This program allows us to loan Knox Boxes to eligible senior citizens to be used in the case of an emergency, eliminating damage to the resident's door or windows. When seconds matter these boxes are vital.
