Habitat Restore Bowling Green

Habitat Restore Bowling Green Everyone deserves a decent place to call home. We are across the street from Bowling Green Ballpark.

Shop with a purpose at the ReStore, where we sell donated and purchased items to support Habitat for Humanity in their goal of fostering strength, stability, and self-reliance through shelter. The Bowling Green/Warren County Habitat ReStore is a store and donation center located at 804 Center Street, Bowling Green, KY, 42101. The items we sell are available to the public and similar to what you ma

y see in other retail and home good stores, such as furniture, home decor, doors, windows, tools, and so much more. From brand new items, vintage treasures, seasonal overstock, and items simply you won’t find anywhere else, the ReStore has something for everyone. Aside from what we sell, the ReStore is a unique opportunity to give to your community. The purpose of our ReStore is to help facilitate the work of Habitat for Humanity Bowling Green/Warren County. When you shop with the ReStore, proceeds from your purchase may go to help roof a house, stand some walls, or hang some doors; all of which will take place right here in Warren County. Donating your new or gently used items to the store, is a tax deductible way to invest directly into building strength, stability, and self-reliance here in Bowling Green. Also, volunteering with the ReStore can be a fun way to connect with your community while helping raise funds to provide Kentuckians with a decent place to live.

🛠️ The Real Story Behind Your Long Weekend

Before you fire up the BBQ or head out for that end-of-summer sale, here is the quick history of why we actually celebrate Labor Day.

🏭 The Grim Reality (Late 1800s) During the Industrial Revolution, the average American worked 12-hour days, 7 days a week in dangerous conditions. Even children worked in factories and mines for pennies.

🪧 The First March (1882) On September 5, 1882, 10,000 workers in NYC took unpaid time off to march for safer conditions, better pay, and the revolutionary concept of an 8-hour workday.

🚂 The Turning Point (1894) Following a massive and violent railroad protest known as the Pullman Strike, President Grover Cleveland rushed to mend ties with the public. Congress quickly passed legislation, and on June 28, 1894, Labor Day became an official federal holiday.

💡 Why It Matters Today: Every time you enjoy a 40-hour workweek, a safe workplace, or a weekend off, you are living the victories won by early labor movements .Drop a comment below: 👇How are you celebrating your hard work this weekend? 👇
