Wood Lane - Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities Supporting, Empowering, and Inspiring individuals with developmental disabilities in Wood County.

Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities works to support, empower, and inspire all people. As an organization we strive to provide individuals with the best choices and options in education, health care, employment, recreation, and community involvement across the life span. We receive support from many community members, civic and religious groups, BGSU and local businesses that help us to be successful in achieving our mission. Without the dedication of hard working employees and human service agencies we would not be where we are today. We know that within the heart of each community, EVERYONE belongs!

1 in 5 Americans live with a condition that could be considered an invisible disability. That's 20% of the population!

In recognition of Invisible Disabilities Week in Ohio (October 18–24), we're reminding our community that not all disabilities are visible, and neither are all abilities!

From learning disabilities and chronic health conditions to neurological differences, individuals may experience challenges that aren't immediately noticeable to others. At Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities, we recognize that every person has unique strengths, experiences, and support needs.

You can't always see someone's challenges, but you can always choose understanding, kindness, and inclusion.

🚌 It's School Bus Safety Week!

At Wood Lane School, the safety of our students is always a top priority. This week, we're recognizing the importance of school bus safety and reminding our community to slow down, stay alert, and always stop for school buses when their red lights are flashing and stop signs are extended.

A special THANK YOU to our dedicated bus drivers and transportation staff who help ensure our students travel safely to and from school each day!

October 18–24, 2026, has officially been proclaimed Invisible Disabilities Week in Ohio! 💙 Ohio Governor Mike DeWine and Lieutenant Governor Jim Tressel have recognized this week as an opportunity to raise awareness and promote greater understanding of disabilities that may not be immediately visible.

Not all disabilities are visible. Neither are all abilities.

You can't always tell what someone is experiencing simply by looking at them. Some individuals face challenges that others may never see, while their strengths, talents, and accomplishments can also go unrecognized.

At Wood County Board of Developmental Disabilities, we believe every individual has a unique story, with their own abilities, goals, experiences, and support needs.

This week, we encourage our community to look beyond appearances, challenge assumptions, and remember that there's always more to someone's story than what meets the eye.
