SOKY Alliance BG Teen is an opportunity for teens to socialize in a safe, fun, inclusive & supportive space. You belong here!

SOKY Alliance fosters community, builds support, and promotes advocacy for our local LGBTQ+ community through programming, educational opportunities, and resource connections. Each meeting will be a time for teens to be themselves, meet others and just have some fun. BG Teen is open to all high school teens regardless of race, color, religion, gender, gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, national origin, genetics, disability, etc, etc, etc. And while we're at it, we'll use this page to promote other local opportunities for teen involvement.

It has been a whirlwind weekend! Prom, Pride, and now Sonus is having its debut concert today. We hope you'll come out at 4pm to support this new project. With only about 7 rehearsals since starting, this group has come together to create such a special space, bringing music and community together. And what's more beautiful than that?

Before Prom tomorrow, here are some good things to know!

Other than having fun, here are some important FAQs and guidelines:

Are there any age-related requirements?
-This is an event geared toward the younger crowd ages 13+ to have a safe, sober, fun space for BG Pride weekend. All of our under 18 folks, please be prepared to sign in with an emergency contact number.

Can I leave and come back?
-For safety reasons, once you’re in, you’re in. And once you’re out, you’re out. No readmittance.

What should I wear?
-Costumes are encouraged! But if yours covers your face, please prepare to put that on AFTER you are checked in. We need to see your face first for check-in.
You can also wear your snazziest prom attire or your everyday clothes. Come as you are!

What about *enter substance here*?
-This is a completely substance-free event, throughout the whole property indoors and outdoors. Yes, that means your v**e. No smoking/vaping/drinking/drugs/etc. allowed. Period.

I don’t feel great, but I really want to come. What do I do?
-If you aren’t feeling well, please consider staying home to take care of yourself and also others who will be present.

Who do I ask if I need help?
-If you have any issues during the event, our volunteers will be wearing yellow volunteer lanyards, so seek them out!

Can I purchase my ticket at the door?
-Yes! If you bring cash, please bring the exact amount as we’ll have limited cash for change. You can also pay via Venmo or with a card.

Interested in joining Sonus for our winter concert? Here's what you need to know:

•Membership dues for the fall semester are $30. We can accept most forms of payment (cash, check made out to SOKY Alliance, Venmo, Paypal, Cashapp, card). You can pay this online at https://givebutter.com/skyalliance. Just type $30 in the "other section" and add a note that says "choir."

We have limited scholarships available. If you plan to request one, paper forms will be available at rehearsal.

REHEARSALS
Rehearsals are from 6:30-8pm on Sundays at First Christian Church (unless otherwise noted on the schedule, which is attached). The entrance is at the double glass doors on the back of the building facing Chestnut St. You'll go down the stairs straight into the choir room.

Rehearsals are important, and multiple absences can affect whether you may perform at the concerts, so please make every effort to attend - although yes, we understand life happens!

What to bring: (We do have some extra supplies on hand should you need them.)

🎃 Friday Friday Friday! It's time to get spooky 👻

Its the 3rd Annual Spooky Pride Prom for LGBTQ+ young folx and allies ages 13+ from 7-10pm on Friday, October 23, at Molotov Skateshop.

There will be music by Countess Octavia Kirby and DJ K Hard, concessions, plus a costume contest and prizes!

Come dressed in costume, dressed in your finest prom attire, or dressed exactly as you are. Tickets are $10 per person.

🎶 Sonus is having its debut concert this BG Pride weekend! Come support our new LGBTQ+ & allies choir at 4pm Sunday at First Christian Church. The concert is free but donations are always appreciated.

🎸Countess Octavia Kirby will be opening up prom rocking the spookiest sounds!
🎧 And then DJ K Hard will bring the beats for night!

👻 Spooky Pride Prom is a BG Pride weekend event for ages 13 and up from 7-10pm at Molotov Skate Shop. Tickets are $10 in advance or at the door.

It's a week full of opportunities to connect!

Gayme Nite is tonight from 5-9pm.
🎲 Gayme Nite is for the 18+ crowd. Join in from 5-9pm on the 2nd & 4th Mondays for a night of fun competition, snacks and community.
No sign-ups required! 1106 State St., First Christian Church. Entrance at the patio.

Tuesday from 6-8pm is BG Teen, and we're playing hide 'n' seek!
✨BG Teen is for LGBTQ+ middle and high schoolers. No sign-ups required and dinner is provided.

Wednesday is Q***r Craft Night with the Oracle Arts Council from 4:30-7:30pm at the Bob Kirby library in Meeting Room 1.
